These granary elevators were striking sights all throughout my train journey through the Midwest US, with names of co-ops in peeling, rusted through paints. They stood over townships with shuttered main streets and dwindling populations despite being located right on a major rail path persisting through 2020's.

Each one of them would be worth a small historical study and record. A persistent impression of the US throughout my travels was a country in the middle of losing important memories and sliding into limbo.

Fotografie von Fotografie. Das ist schon Seltsamkeit in sich. Aber wenn die fotografierten Fotografien zerstört, zerrissen, unwirklich aussehen, dann ist der Seltsamkeit die Krone aufgesetzt.

Ich weiß, in letzter Zeit streben immer mehr Leute nach einer Krone. Davon halte ich garnichts! Und by the way, das Abschaffen des Staates ist nur für Superreiche erstrebenswert, weil sie auch an der Anarchie des Hyperkapitalismus verdienen.

Jedoch Vorsicht, Anarchie ist grundsätzlich nicht schlecht. Wenn sie sich auf kreative Prozesse und Kunst bezieht, schadet sie nicht, sondern schafft Entwicklungsräume. Macht mehr Kunst, verteidigt Kunst, setzt Kunst im Kampf für Freiheit und Menschenrechte ein!

Photography of photography. That's strange in itself. But when the photographed photographs look destroyed, torn, unreal, then the strangeness is crowned.

I know that lately more and more people are striving for a crown. I don't believe in that at all! And by the way, the abolition of the state is only attractive to the super-rich, because they also profit from the anarchy of hyper-capitalism.

However, be aware that anarchy is not fundamentally bad. When it relates to creative processes and art, it does no harm, but rather creates space for creative development. Make more art, stand up for art, use art in the fight for freedom and human rights!

#Polaroidträume

Es ist eine wahre Hassliebe. Man drückt auf den Auslöser, die Kamera surrt mechanisch, und ein weißer Rahmen schiebt sich langsam heraus. Etwa zwei Euro kostet dieser eine Moment. Und dann beginnt das Warten. Wird es magisch – oder einfach mal wieder falsch belichtet?

Meine Beziehung zur Sofortbildfotografie mit Polaroid schwankt gewaltig. Sie pendelt zwischen "Ich verkaufe den ganzen Kram sofort wieder" und dann kommt mal wieder das eine Hammerbild und ich bin wieder schockverliebt und euphorisch.

Sauber, ohne Ballast. Wundere Dich nicht. Überflüssig.

Kunst kostet Geld. Bittere Wahrheit und gleichzeitig seltsam. Geld ist ein immerwährendes, ständig angeführtes Thema. Wird das Geldthema in Bezug auf Kunst angeführt, wenden sich die meisten Menschen ab, als hätten sie nichts gehört … völlig klar, Kunst ist reines Vergnügen und wer es sich nicht leisten kann, soll die Finger davon lassen. Ein paar wenige Menschen denken anders … an Spekulation, Auktionen und Kunsthype. Aber seien wir ehrlich, der größte Teil der Kunst findet im Niemandsland zwischen künstlerischer Neigungsgruppe und Big Art Business statt, also unterfinanziert und naja irgendwie nicht so toll.

Als Hungerkünstler sehe ich für mich keine Zukunftsperspektiven. Deshalb gibt es jetzt einen Onlineshop mit einem Teil meiner Künstlerei. Schaut mal rein.

Art costs money. It's a bitter truth, and at the same time, it's strange. Money is a perpetual, constantly discussed topic. When the subject of money comes up in relation to art, most people turn away as if they hadn't heard anything... it's perfectly clear that art is pure pleasure, and those who can't afford it should stay away. A few people think differently... about speculation, auctions, and art hype. But let's be honest, most art takes place in the no man's land between artistic interest groups and big art business, i.e., underfunded and, well, not so great.

Kunst entsteht. In einem Prozess. Sie fällt nicht vom Himmel, hat keine Vorlage, folgt keinem Kochrezept, ist im Idealfall einzigartig, nie alleine, häufig inspiriert aus unterschiedlichen Richtungen. Sie folgt dem, was dem Kunstschaffenden im Kopf herum geht, folgt einer Linie, geht verschiedene Wege und Ziele sind verhandelbar. Manchmal gleichzeitig verschieden und dennoch häufig selten, trotz viel.

Ich finde es schön, dass wir uns auch über so einfache Dinge unterhalten können.

Art is created. In a process. It doesn't fall from the sky, it has no template, it doesn't follow a recipe, ideally it is unique, never alone, often inspired from different directions. It follows what is going on in the artist's mind, follows a line, takes different paths, and goals are open to negotiation. Sometimes different at the same time, yet often rare, despite much.

I think it's nice that we can talk about such simple things.

Stillleben im Winter. Draußen vor der Tür ist es still, besonders wenn Schnee liegt. Deshalb stehen Schneeschieber und Streumittel bereit. Und Planzen im Asyl. Wegen Frost. Wie bei Menschen, obwohl Asyl für Menschen schwieriger ist. Dann doch nur Pflanzen. Das fällt nicht auf, wenn der Schnee ordentlich weggeschoben und anständig gestreut ist.

Still life in winter. Outside the door, it is quiet, especially when there is snow on the ground. That is why snow shovels and grit are at the ready. And plants are sheltered. Because of frost. Just like people, although shelter is more difficult for people. So only plants, then. It is not noticeable when the snow has been neatly shoveled away and grit has been spread properly.
