🛑 Stop managing DNS by hand and start treating it like code! Manage your entire DNS setup with the power of version control and automation:
DNSimple + Terraform
I am SO losing patience with #IT co-workers' stubborn resistance to anything #InfrastructureAsCode I'm like, "Dude, do you think you're magically immune to ever getting a stroke, or ever going to get a different job?" Yes, it takes time. But ethics behoove you to make it easier for the NEXT guy...

Declarative infrastructure config hides complexity, letting developers focus on what really matters: application code.
• Unified YAML per service → validate costs early
• Independent CI + centralized CD → team autonomy meets deployment consistency

You can now install Bolt 5.0.1 which brings a new plan_context function to get information about whether a plan is running in Bolt or Puppet Enterprise. Windows 11 and RHEL 10 support were also added!
You can see details on the changes in the official release notes for Bolt 5.0.1.

If you’re still managing domains in a browser tab, it’s time to bring them into your IaC workflows and treat them like the critical infrastructure they are. DNSimple is currently the only provider offering complete domain lifecycle management in Terraform, so you can manage not just DNS, but the domain itself as code. Do you have a bunch of playbooks that you want to reuse with your Puppet-managed infrastructure? In this video, Jason St-Cyr shows how to provision a new AWS load balancer using an Ansible Playbook running through Perforce Puppet! Make your tools play nice together!
🤩 Hope your 2026 is off to a great start! If you work with infrastructure, automation, or manage a portfolio of domains, DNSimple’s 2025 "Year in Review" is well worth a read 👉 https://blog.dnsimple.com/2025/12/2025-year-in-review/
Infrastructure as Code. Sauber & reproduzierbar.

A common Terraform misconception: sensitive redacts output, not state.
The `sensitive = true` flag only redacts CLI/UI output. If Terraform needs the value to manage infrastructure, that value can still be stored (and is retrievable) in state files and saved plan files so treat those artifacts as sensitive.
Terraform 1.11 adds write-only arguments (where supported by your provider/resource), so you can pass secrets to managed resources without persisting those values in Terraform plan/state artifacts.
Here’s how it works:
• Pass secrets to `_wo` arguments (e.g., `secret_string_wo`)
• Terraform sends the value to the provider during the run
• Terraform discards the value afterward (rotate via a companion `_wo_version` argument)
I wrote a hands-on guide with AWS + Azure examples, plus a companion lab repo so you can see the difference yourself.
If you’ve ever wondered, “Wait… are my secrets actually in that state file?” now you know and now you can fix it.
Great work, HashiCorp.
