My #ibmpc #gamedev projects use C, making this the third language I've used for #Barbarians. The graphics were based on the 32-bit version for the Psion Revo, but the 4-greyscale monochrome graphics were recoloured in the most colourful or gaudy of #cga palettes: blue, green, red, yellow. A preparation of herbs for healing wounds, a Poultice can be applied to wounds to heal them at the rate of 1 hit point per turn. The number of hit points healed when successful is the number of hit points required to reach full health at the time of application. So if a character has 11 hit points of a maximum 21, ten hit points will be healed by applying a poultice, over ten turns. Aren the Ranger buys a couple of poultices at the ranger supply shop. These can be used with a skill of Medicine:1, but at that skill level, many will be wasted in unsuccessful attempts to heal. At Medicine:2 skill there's nearly a 50% chance of success, so they become more worth buying. The Poultice is enlarged in the inset.

I just spent half a day restoring my old IBM PC 330 to a working state. It features an Intel Pentium 166MHz with 16MB of SDRAM and an 8GB IDE harddisk drive. There's also a networking card, as well as a Soundblaster 16.

As much as I appreciate its compact design, it's a real pain to assemble! Oh, well.. looks like everything's working again. Hurray! 😀

In the third level of Double Trouble, Multibot has just shot a forcefield generator, disabling forcefields that extended from it to the north and south. Meanwhile, Strider navigates a corridor full of crates to reach its data card at the top.

Oh, cool! I just found an old 3.5 inch 720K floppy disk containing Microsoft Mouse drivers and Paintbrush 1.05 for Windows. Got it running using 86Box and Windows/386 2.11. I love being able to run 40-year-old software in 2026! 🙂
