One feature I would like added to the #GLiNet #CometPro is #IPv6 support in the web UI.
The device runs a version of #Linux that supports IPv6, and sets a link-local address up.
That means the only thing that's missing is the web UI integration (there for IPv4 already, so shouldn't be difficult to implement.)

Moin.
scuttlebutt on the #GLiNet Mudi 7 tri-band 5G travel router is that they are trying to launch it by the end of first quarter and it may launch at a price of about $370
that's too expensive for me, but their firmwares tend to be rough at first release, so I'm comfortable waiting a while before worrying about upgrading my old Spitz v2 ... I don't use these cellular devices a lot (though Mudi 7 having a battery could change that) but when I need them, I really need them, so it's that kind of a thing.
some more info:
Weight 300g
Dimensions 157 x 75 x 22.8 mm
claimed 8 hour battery life
4x4 5G downlink MIMO
500Mbps Wireguard
2x optional external 5G antenna

it's frustrating being so cash-poor but it is what it is, at this point I'm hardware-rich in the server department... I have plenty of capacity for Proxmox and thus I'm looking to bolster my personal computing capacity ... I finally just got a replacement battery and a keyboard for my Thinkpad, and when I do get a NanoPi M6 that'll become the ultimate fallback if the laptop breaks or is stolen, etc.
my other planned tech purchases for 2026 are a #GLiNet Mudi 7 (after it's released) mobile 5G hotspot and an Android phone which actually talks to US cell carriers, unlike my current 5yo Poco F1 which became a wifi-only device when the 3G networks were shut down here.
🙈 #FediFlohmarkt #glinet
@geerlingguy the ghetto refurb hp may be overkill and over the hill but more fun to make your own than buy? this probably uses much less power. i think smb mkt will go past 10g and just go to 100g, skip 25/40/56
the dev side of this story is good,
the rasp pi will someday replace a 1 million dollar server - i like the solemn silence edit on that one
smb will go for the mikrotik 100g switch - i think that will be mkt leader in just a couple years

When I travel, I always bring my #GLinet GL-AXT1800 travel router. It's got that extra juice required to do wifi-to-wifi bridging or repeating if you will, but adding a transparent layer of VPN, in my case #Wireguard. All this shenanigans means we got uncomplicated and safe #wifi for the family, and regardless of the hotspot we're using, the Google TV dongle is always on the same network, and various geo-dependent services are fooled into thinking we're at home. And #Jellyfin also works perfectly. Right now I'm revisiting #BetterThings while the rest of the family sleeps. It's all good.
I get no kickbacks - it's just a really nice #travel #router: https://www.gl-inet.com/products/gl-axt1800/
@crft I use a #GLinet travel Router which is running on openwrt https://www.gl-inet.com/products/

@TheDragon I'm starting to think I might get a #GLiNet Mudi v2 and not wait for Mudi 7, but I'M not sure ... I'd Much rather get their SIMPoYo 4G dongle but there's no USA version.
it's a tough call, I need soMething More portable than My Spitz v2, but the existing Mudi has a slow CPU, Wireguard thruput only 40Mbps
So I'm tinkering with the #AdGuard Home that comes built into my #GLiNet home router and it's actually pretty powerful. In "some" ways it's more powerful than the #PiHole setup I had been using, though the grouping of devices (for example, to block a domain for all my daughter's devices) is a little more finicky. Essentially I just add all her device's IP addresses to a single "client" entry, and then apply rules to that "client".
One reason I'm doing this is, in combination with the

#GLiNet makes the weirdest stuff sometimes, and I'm into it
I'm also interested in the upcoming #GLiNet GL-E5800 'Mudi 7' 5G + Wifi 7 router, but that one isn't shipping yet and specs are still not listed.
most of GLi's recent 4G and 5G routers have had a ton of external antennas, which may be great for some #vanlife applications, but for how I've ended up using my old 4G GL-X750 'Spitz', the external antennas were kind of a pain. they definitely improve reception, but they're just a pain to deal with.
my eventual goal is to be able to self-host all my services from a house on wheels, but that's probably pretty far into the future. most of my use of the Spitz was in very temporary setups where, assuming it could've held a signal without them, the antennas were in the way a lot.
