I should write an article in me blog about the research I've done about me #BOOX #ebookreader and also the research I've done about other ebook readers such as #Kobo and #Pocketbook. I also have contacted #inkbook asking them if they release the kernel source code and drivers, and if they allow installation of a custom OS.
It seems a Kobo ebook reader would be a very good playground for working with drivers and hardware. Since for most of their devices, the only thing which haven't got support in mainline are the #Eink stuff.
I really don't go if I want to go down the road of mainlining. What's important, is first that how much effort is needed. And second, if I'm alone or not.
Fortunately, for Kobo devices, there is already another #Linux distribution based on #Alpine.
I am also researching about what kernel other than Linux could be used on these devices. The best bet seems to be #FreeBSD as the kernel already supports many of these #Freescale processors.
