I get to see "Sinners" in IMAX Saturday afternoon.
I didn't go see it in theaters when it came out. This will be only the second time I've been to a movie theater since the pandemic started. The other time was when "Labyrinth" was back in theaters.
I'll be wearing my KN95 mask the whole time.
But "Sinners", I have it on Blu-ray. It's awesome. I told my wife I really wished I'd seen it in IMAX when it came out. Now I get to. My wife is going with me. I hope she likes it. She's not the horror and blues fan I am, but an amazing film is an amazing film.
I love watching Ryan Coogler interviews for the movie with white interviewers. They always ask him to explicitly call out the anti-racist narrative and he just points back to the movie and refuses to bite. He lets the film speak for itself because of he says any of it out loud, his career would be over in a second. That's sad as hell, isn't it? Like, it's obvious. But he can't say it. The look on his face when they ask him. Man's biting his tongue so hard it's lying on the floor.
The whole team behind "Sinners" should win every Oscar.
