Spinsters' Rock, near Chagford, Dartmoor, Devon

Best surviving example of a dolmen or cromlech in Devon, built around 4500-5500 BP. After the stones collapsed in 1862, they were re-erected the same year.

Name refers to the legend that three spinsters (in the occupational sense) were waiting for their woollen cloth to be collected one morning before breakfast and whiled away the time creating this arrangement of stones.

Das Poskaer Stenhus in Dänemark.
Im Mittelpunkt liegt ein Stein als Dach auf mehreren großen Steinen. In einem geringen Abstand bilden weitere ähnliche Steine einen Steinkreis.
Der Himmel ist dramatisch von dunklen Wolken bedeckt - der Steinkreis selbst liegt allerdings in strahlendem Sonnenschein.

Die Dolmen von Ta’ Cenc stammen aus der Bronzezeit und bestehen aus wenigen großen Steinplatten. Ihre Funktion ist nicht eindeutig belegt, wahrscheinlich dienten sie kultischen Zwecken. Die Steine liegen heute einsam inmitten niedriger Vegetation.
