She regularly uses Facebook Messenger to communicate with her eldest daughter, who is currently working in Saudi Arabia, and with her grandchildren, who are studying in Albay. </p>

<p>She also uses her phone to entertain herself through social media platforms like YouTube and Facebook.</p>

<p>One of roughly 1.5 million elderly Filipinos who are registered in the <a href="https://dict.gov.ph/">Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)</a> database, Paz might be considered a digital success story for her generation. She is one of the lucky seniors whose lives have improved because of modern technology. </p>

<p>In a country where much of daily life has shifted online, however, the vast majority of these older Filipinos are being left behind.
