#DefectiveByDesign

Today's anger and frustration are brought to you by our Whirlpool microwave, felled by an incredibly stupid design resulting in a handful of broken retaining tabs, two broken screw mounts, and a wobbly door that's causing the control panel to flake out. Replacement door: $309. New microwave: $329. I will never buy another Whirlpool appliance. #DefectiveByDesign
A hand holding an assortment of small plastic bits that broke off the door of our microwave. The lower portion of the outer door assembly from our microwave. There's a glass window at the top, and most of the photo is taken up by the panel's structural frame. It's a single, large piece of molded, black plastic, with a narrow channel at the very bottom. At approximately one quarter and three quarters of the photo's width, there are two bits of plastic that are dimly visible at the bottom of the channel, where the retaining clips from the previous photo broke off. The plastic was clearly too thin and brittle for the amount of stress the door goes through when it's opened.

@neotoy The world also *knows this* as makers and to people or find ways to reduce of directly or indirectly - it's rather a planned and increasingly "clever" by design "eco-system"...

Solo. Doit se connecter à Internet. Pour prouver. Version légitime.

Ya pas un problème dans ce raisonnement ?

Is there a good way of stripping DRM from kindle ebooks these days, without actually owning a kindle device ? Ive been a bit confused on the state of kindle DRM ever since they killed downloads and the kindle for PC app; and im not a regular of the amazon ecosystem these days.

I keep staring at a few kindle exclusives, and im kinda tempted, if I can find a way to decrypt them. #ebooks #drm #ebook #ereader #kindle #amazon #DefectiveByDesign

EDIT: Thanks for the boosts, I seem to have gotten the current terrible news here: mastodon.social/@AKK666/115923

I queried Claude.ai to help out a customer with disconnection problems using a Samsung 65 inch TV.
This turns out to be Defective By Design.

😡😡

Based on my search, yes, Samsung TVs do have a known issue with Bluetooth pairing when powered off:
The Disconnection Problem
When Samsung TVs turn off, Bluetooth devices disconnect and won't reconnect automatically unless you pair them again each time (Best Buy) . This is unfortunately by design

@thibaultamartin @cas Hm, interesting, so you're saying #aosp is so complicated it has effectively become non-free software since it can't practically be modified and shared without a major corporation or state to support it? Do you think that's a #defectivebydesign thing? Or will #postmarketos eventually face the same issues once it grows large enough and has as many features and users?
