I'm going to the scary art supply store today. Well, the store itself isn't scary, in fact, it's quite nice. But the neighborhood I have to go through to get there is, well, scary. It's the heart of Skid Row, and even from the inside of a bus, it's unsettling.

But it's still better than having to go to the West Side.

(I would normally go to a store in Pasadena, cause it's a nice train ride out there, but they're out of what I need. Which is Galkyd Lite and Gamvar Satin. The West LA store has them, but, you know, it's on the West Side.)

This is a colour street photo in landscape format of a Chinese Dragon dance during the Chinese new year celebrations. Los Angles, California (2014).

In the centre of the image is our Chinese Dragon, it's held being held high and looking directly at the camera. Most noticeable are the two large staring eyes looking straight at the lens. The head is large, multi-coloured and with black feather like material outlining the eyes and the rest of the head. The top of the head is decorated with numerous small red, orange and black balls attached with short springs causing them to wobble around. The brave Dragon operator, wearing a bright red t-shirt adorned with Chinese characters, can be seen below holding the head high above his or her shoulders. Behind is the long glowing red fabric body of the beast with two further 'Dragon Dancers' holding the body. In the background is an urban cityscape with a parked police car, shopfronts deep in shadow and one bearded passerby.
