#FiberuaryChallenge Day 19: Color Crush. I dunno, man, I just like most colors and I like wearing all of them together. #DHmakes

Quinn looking kinda skeptical wearing the woven dataviz scarf, crochet hand spun enby sweater, eyeball sweatshirt, and rainbow pants in a faux knit pattern.

Some quick DHy prints for @mkirschenbaum.bsky.social@bsky.brid.gy using "The March of the Intellect" automaton I lasercut. "What we talk about when we talk about AI". "textpocalypse, now :(". "disentangle the signifier, entangle the social & material of AI" (from Matt's bsky.app/profile/mkir...) #DHmakes

1st print using an actual cabbage. Next one will use all the antifascist veggie puns, arranged around the cabbage print like layers of leaves (puns are inherently antifascist) #DHmakes

Photo of a letterpress print on white paper with black and neon green ink. It says "this machine kales fascists", with "kales" in green and the other words in black with green offset shadow behind, print held up in front of a frosted glass door with some light coming through. There is a large round print made by inking a cross-section of actual red cabbage, showing its layered packed leaves' texture.

What I marvel at is how anyone can engage in the hobby of 3D printer repair without being, or having access to, someone who is deep into textile crafts. How many things have I needed to pry free where that absolutely was not happening without a needle or knitting needle of some sort? #DHmakes

I love this idea, and it makes me imagine visualizing it with multi-colored 3d printing, like some of the models @suttonkoeser.bsky.social@bsky.brid.gy would make. #DHmakes

#FiberuaryChallenge Day 18: Wear it Wednesday. It's cloudy and gray again today, but this is as close to gray as my wardrobe will take me. Fox shirt and Unicode archive pants (with giant pockets), shawl from summer 2023 road trip. All made by me + jewelry from @peculiarityshop.bsky.social@bsky.brid.gy #DHmakes

#FiberuaryChallenge Day 17: Project bag. Let's be honest, all my project bags are full of shattered dreams. This is the bag for knitting a blanket for the second-grader. I can't count, the thing is a mess and getting frogged. I also failed at a Pride cardigan I loved recently. #DHmakes #DHtries

Muppets are totally a technology! So is weaving, and knitting, and sewing, and embroidery. I love helping people learn to make things with those technologies and find joy in it. People innovate there too: new threads! Superwash wool yarn! Making 80s knitting machines talk to new computers! #DHmakes

The cabbage prints are very cool but am holding photos as motivation to finish getting my print store online 🤞🥬🎨 Meanwhile here is traditional letterpress blocking... for typehigh red cabbage #DHmakes

RE: https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:quschouau47zm4f3ntsw7j5y/post/3meymhkyark2x

Photo of a metal printing press bed with traditional blocking involving wood furniture, leading, quoins, and dead bar; and the nontraditional situation of instead of movable type, two .918" high rounds of red cabbage cross-section are what is blocked for printing. A trash bag liner and blue shop towels are visibly lining the press bed to protect it from cabbage moisture/smell. The cabbage cross-section rounds look like swirls of purple and white.

This is brilliant. I used to think of the dinosaur of disconnection as a bad thing, but anymore, it can feel like relief. A crochet version is pure joy. #DHmakes 🦖

#DHmakes folks with a few dollars to spare: here's a way to share the joy of craft. I sent them 528 self-adhesive googly eyes because, c'mon, everything is better with self-adhesive googly eyes. And I've got ꙮꙮ tattoos. 😅
