@mstarace I disagree.

#CursiveWriting ruined my #handwriting and teaching people to use an actual keyboard blindly is - unlike cursive - an actual skill universally desired if not demanded or expected.

It's been a while since my last attempt at #CursiveWriting with my #FountainPen

Hey! This is my first cartridge swap. My previous one died at last, it probably dried after 20 days without use, although it was already about to die so anyway.

I did not do any cleanup before the swap but the cart was the same color and I did not worry too much.

I am definitely saving the empty cart to test out the syringe I was gifted some weeks ago. Now I just need to buy a bottle of ink next, what color should I go for?

Also I just realized my work anniversary just happened so thats pretty cool. Anyway that's enough writing for today. Time to get going!

Haven't shared any progress with my #CursiveWriting lately so here's a random page I filled today with my Pilot Metropolitan #FountainPen

#HandWriting #Analog #Cursive

A notebook with a pen by its side, the following text in cursive:

I am finally returning to handwriting in English after a few days without much practice. Today I took a shower as soon as I woke up from bed. It was late so I headed to the bus right after my backpack was ready to go. I listened to some podcasts...

Welp I got busy and it's a new day now. The mornings are getting colder so today I asked for a ride instead, since it was already late too. I have practiced, or at least made use of writing by hand quite a bit more last week. I still need to figure out some letters. I started connecting the letter "o" from above a bit more bluntly than before, I think my hand and mind are starting to pick-up on shortcuts and even some bad habits or techniques, which isn't ideal but is rather amusing to me. My letters are also getting a little smaller and I think I don't move my hands as much as before, so I don't get as tired either. A welcome development indeed.

Still have not hanged my cartridge either so I am happy with how long it has lasted

Some more practice with my Platinum Preppy and #CursiveWriting has been made :P

Yesterday I wrote my weeknotes and had a great time, the same is true for my second post that day, about how tools can become a hobby beyond just fulfilling a certain task.

Not only am I writing, I am having fun! It is not just a task, not just a task, but a form of art and expression, I guess

I don't think it is such a big deal though but it is something to keep in mind.

Writing in cursive is more demanding and a little tiresome, but getting better at it is a rather fun adventure I must say.

Right about now ink started to run a bit dry, but it has been a good little time writing before work time finally arrives. I still stink at writing the letter "r"

If you want to teach cursive, fine. Come up with better reasoning than this to devote some of our limited educational resources to it. For example, there are studies that suggest handwriting notes leads to better memory retention than typing on a computer. Are cursive writers better at taking handwritten notes?

As for me, I love writing notes on paper, and I find it to be a very helpful memory aide, but I don't use cursive.

I overheard a woman ranting that it is bad that they are not teaching cursive in school. Her reasoning?

"If they can't write cursive, then they can't read cursive. If they can't read cursive, then they can't read The Constitution?"

This is 100% nonsense reasoning. I learned to write in cursive ~40 years ago. I've read the Constitution at least 4 times, but never by reading an image of the document - I only read it in print in a book or a website.

Bonus #Joke :
My daughter once yelled at me in German.
I yelled back in Klingon.
She was confused.
I was terrified.

Comic with a woman sitting in a recliner. In front of her, two pre-teen children are staring at their cell phones.

Mom's speech balloon is in cursive. She is saying, "When I was your age, I had to write in a style called 'cursive'."

One child texts to the other, "W-T-H is Mom saying?"

The other child replies in texting abbreviation with "I-D-K."

Did you know?! The National Archives is looking for volunteers with an increasingly rare skill: Reading cursive.

To volunteer, all that’s required is to sign up online and then log in. You just pick a record that hasn't been done and read the instructions. It's easy to do for a half hour a day or a week.

Stopped to run an errand at Staples and also bought 3 new pens.

I have hundreds of pens. Everywhere.

But writing in cursive in my journal (s) is a lifelong favorite activity of mine and a huge part of my life.

So, pens. Journals and pens. Right up there with chocolate and silence for therapeutic purposes 🥰.

@penfount
Cleaned and refilled a couple of my pens today. Some have dried up by sitting unused for about 5 months. Others just need a bit of coaxing. I have to decide on fewer pens to keep filled up.
