For more than 30 years, the #UN General Assembly has voted overwhelmingly to end the #US embargo on Cuba.
But this year, the number grew slightly: seven countries voted NO, and a few more abstained.
According to Professor #WilliamLeoGrande, most of those opposing nations either rely heavily on Washington, like #Israel and #Ukraine, or have conservative governments ideologically opposed to Cuba.
Others are nations clashing with Russia, viewing Cuba as its ally.
Behind the numbers lies US diplomatic pressure. Washington can force votes, LeoGrande says, but not genuine support.

Loads of services don't work here in Cuba 🇨🇺. In my experience, most fail silently (like Facebook Messenger video chat which hangs on connecting), some fail intermittently (like Google business apps which won't let you log in to a business Gmail domain but will let you log in to YouTube and then access the same Gmail account), and then others that haven't thought through their approach (like Docker Hub which sends the blocked user to a blocked contact page).
