On This Day 1st February 2014.

D-AICG, Airbus A320-212, Condor, climbing out of Runway 23 Right at Manchester Airport, 1st February 2014, as seen from the Runway VisitorPark.

Side view of a twin engined jet airliner flying from left to right at a low altitude, with undercarriage lowered, flaps extended from the rear of the wings, and the nose raised sharply, suggesting it has just taken off.
The plane is mostly white, with a pale blue belly, and dark blue "Condor" titles on the forward fuselage, with much smaller text "AirbusA320" below.
There are dark blue "Thomas Cook" titles on the upper rear fuselage, and the dark blue registration "D-AICG" next to a small German flag on the lower rear.
The engine pods under the wings are dark blue, with an even darker blue circle outlined in yellow, and containing a stylised flying yellow bird in the middle.
The tail is dark blue at top and bottom, transitioning to a lighter blue in the middle, with an orange and yellow love heart in the centre, and the white letters "CG" right at the top.
Pale blue sky, even paler than the planes belly, and fluffs of white cloud, fill the rest of the frame.

A California Condor—the first bird I’ve actually done that has been *in flight*, with wings extended. I think I have thing with wings, so this was a big step for me.

Here’s the greeting card (available to US folks only, unfortunately): https://goimagine.com/california-condor-single-bird-greeting-card-5x7-with-envelope/

Surrounding the bird is crosshatching and a halo of golden light, as well as a bokeh lighting effect in oranges and golden browns.

Whew! Serious work happening today on the back-end of all my stuff!

I got a blog entry done, a speedpaint video made and posted, a new greeting card listing created, a newsletter released, and a conversation started about how my storefront marketplace has gone very very quiet in recent months.

It has been a day!

But WOW does it feel good to have accomplished all that stuff! Because life sucks right now and I have to make sure I celebrate the successes, you know? It is imperative that we make things to contradict all the bad, okay? Doing these things today gives me confidence to keep making room to do more. It means I can do it. Not everything in life has to be a dark pit of despair.

So today I share a California Condor—the first bird I’ve actually done that has been *in flight*, with wings extended. I think I have thing with wings, so this was a big step for me. LOL!

And here the gentleman who decided to block out path today. As you can see, we ended up leaving the trail to walk around him, assuming this was better for everyone, including the nature... (this was not in the National Park but in an area frequented by people and cattle so leaving the trail was OK).

One photo is no zoom, the other 3x...

Andean Condor sitting on the side of a trail passing a cliff edge in a beautiful mountain landscape. Close up of the condor from the front.

There are less than 10000 Andean condors, the largest birds of prey, left in the world. They live up to 70 years, pair up for life and care for their chicks for years... Absolutely amazing (and very ugly when being face to face with them as happened to us today on a hiking trail 😅) birds!

Today, we had the luck to see four of them (partially very, very) close - three in this video.

Frankfurt Friday 2 5th December 2025.

D-ADSO, Douglas DC-10-30, Condor, under tow at Frankfurt Airport, either 1993 or 1996.

a low-slung white truck that is cradling the nose-wheel.
The plane is almost entirely white, with a metallic grey belly, and blue "Condor" titles on the upper forward fuselage.
The black registration "D-ADSO" is on the lower rear fuselage, next to a small German flag and an open rear passenger door.
The tail and centre engine are bright yellow, with the dark blue outline of a circle containing a stylised blue flying bird.
Grey concrete apron marked with red, white, and yellow lines fills the foreground, with a small white car at the bottom left, while a low brown building is behind the plane on the right of the background, with a view across the airfield to buildings and trees in the far distance, under bright but hazy sky.
