The image is a historical black-and-white photograph depicting a group of men walking in a line. They are dressed in formal attire, typical of early 20th-century fashion, with many wearing suits, hats, and bow ties. The men appear to be of varying ages and are walking in a single file on a paved path, possibly in an outdoor setting. The background is slightly out of focus, suggesting a rural or open area with some structures faintly visible. The photograph is labeled with handwritten text at the top, which reads: "LIEUT. CHAS. BECKER AT SING-SING SHERIFF HARBURGER." This text suggests that the photograph is related to a specific event or location, possibly involving a law enforcement or legal context. Manhattan is the most densely populated and geographically smallest of the five boroughs of New York City. Coextensive with New York County, Manhattan is the smallest county by area in the U.S. state of New York. Located almost entirely on Manhattan Island near the southern tip of the state, Manhattan is centrally located in the Northeast megalopolis and represents the urban core of the New York metropolitan area. Manhattan serves as New York City's economic and administrative center and has been described as the cultural, financial, media, and entertainment capital of the world.

New York, often called New York City (NYC), is the most populous city in the United States. It is located at the southern tip of New York State on New York Harbor, one of the world's largest natural harbors. The city comprises five boroughs, each coextensive with its respective county. It is the geographical and demographic center of both the Northeast megalopolis and the New York metropolitan area, the largest metropolitan area in the United States by both population and urban area. New York is a global center of finance and commerce, culture, technology, entertainment and media, academics and scientific output, the arts and fashion, and, as home to the headquarters of the United Nations, international diplomacy.

Today, on 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 (Sept 7 — 7/9 for the 79 exons of the dystrophin gene), we stand with families affected by Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy. These conditions are progressive genetic disorders that most often appear between ages 2–5, showing as delayed milestones, frequent falls, and weakening muscles. Raising awareness helps drive earlier screening, timely genetic testing, and faster referrals to specialist care teams—steps that improve quality of life and open access to treatments and clinical trials.

The 2025 theme, “𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲,” highlights how essential family support is to daily management and long-term outcomes. Effective care combines medical follow-up (neurology, cardiology, pulmonology), physiotherapy, nutrition, and mental-health support with practical assistance from caregivers and peer networks. When families are informed, connected, and supported, they can better coordinate care, prevent complications, and advocate for resources and inclusive policies.

You can help today: share this post, wear red or join #Challenge79, and encourage anyone noticing delayed motor milestones to ask their clinician for CK screening and genetic testing. Support local patient groups, donate to research, or volunteer time to connect families with services.

Becker has an interesting thesis;

He conflates "Space Colonisation" with "Mars colonisation"

Mars is hard, but we've already discovered about 90 earth like planets, some of which are in our current tech (generation ships) range. The assumption that we will not make progress with new spaceship drives is very fishy.
We already have working ion drives and Aculbierre FTL drive math checks out, we went from "needs energy of entire universe" to "hold my beer".

As to AGI, even if we accept his LLM pessimism and no further qualitative improvements (which the last 6 months already disprove), arguably) the money behind AGI means that like ancient Alchemy invented Chemistry we will definitely end up with some very very smart toasters.

As to the billionaires, every single one of them is a policy failure.
