In fact, we're actively targeting them with a campaign about their latest policy changes. At the same time, WhatsApp is the most widely used messaging app in the world, and for many LGBT+ people—especially in places where other platforms are restricted or unsafe..
@Black_Flag i share your concerns and i don't use WhatsApp much, but unfortunately lots of orgs and family/friends do not want to join signal when i ask.
#AllOut is one such org. they do absolutely lifesaving work, atm in particular for #trans ppl who face prison & death just bc of who they are.
their aim is reaching as many ppl as possible & the fediverse is still too niche i guess. but i will send them an email to ask if they can create at least a signal account alongside WA.

When the Pride ban broke, we faced smear campaigns, possible jail time, and surveillance – all for trying to march peacefully in our own city.
But then, something incredible happened: hundreds of thousands of people showed up anyway!..
