Finally getting a chance to watch
@adamconover@mastodon.social's Factually! episode "Homeless and Employed in America with Brian Goldstone":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uh379n3ravkI've been part of the so-called "working homeless" off and on since 2007?
The last time I had a legal rental agreement was 2014 (that only lasted a few months before I was terminated by my employer and thus left because I could no longer afford to pay rent).
The last time I was evicted from an illegal sublet (I was renting a room in a 55+ trailer park community, and I was not 55+. I'm still not 55+) was 2019.
Admittedly, my dad was a real estate developer who was very abusive into the whole "my roof, my rules" when I was a kid and I was forced to work (often unpaid, some things never seem to change) as a minor just in hopes that I would have a roof over my head.
But y'know, having slept in tents for years? A roof is overrated!
Kowtowing to abusive pieces of shit, may be the way of human existence, but it's not a life worth living.
Admittedly, I'm not sure what human life is worth living, but I am still alive so I am doing my best to make it less insufferable for myself and others with every fiber of my being.
My best doesn't seem good enough, but it's all I've got.
