phew, @verdre and I just finally got Jolla Android appsupport up with Android 13 on #postmarketOS after a few too many late nights

still suuuuper broken but hopefully we'll soon get back to the state we were in with Android 11 last year. Maybe we'll finally be able to publish this

(yes it's so much nicer than Waydroid)

has switched to systemd-confext to handle /etc. The migration is automatic so you should not notice anything. But if you encounter issues booting or logging in, just ask on the Matrix channel. Or ask me.

People pontificating about whether codebases containing LLM-generated code are subject to IP protection all seem to be forgetting the key point that the law always sides with capital

When big media decided that pirating an mp3 file should be a criminal (not civil) offence, the law sided with them

When big tech decided that pirating every piece of media on the internet for AI training was fair use, the law sided with them

@timkrueger Works better than ever for me! In the mean time I've moved from Fedora to GNOME OS, getting rid of the few minor Fedora customizations, and dropped fish for default bash (not worth the effort).

There are two problems in computer science:

1. We could do this better
2. We should not do this at all

#BoilingTheOcean 9 is next weekend (Feb 13-15)! This time our main topic is identity in peer-to-peer systems. How can we prevent impersonation? What about large groups? What are defenses against physical attacks?

On Friday night we'll have a talk and discussion on these questions at @offline. Over the weekend we're at Cultivation Space to work through some of these questions (and hack on our other usual topics like mobile, GNOME UX, and more!)

The "Walkaway Stack" video is online now! ✨

It's a VERY SHORT fragment of the series I did recently at @offline in Berlin.

Hopefully it's useful as a little intro into the p2p space and it's gnarly problems!

I am still amazed that these super polished "simple" apps exist in the oss world. The likes of Fragments, Decibels and other apps with a completely different approach to the "mission control" UX, here's Ear Tag. A super simple music metadata editor that is a godsend for occasional music producers like myself. Thank you, @knuxify:postmarketos.org. It is a joy to use.

The super polished, straigh forward interface of Ear Tag. Contrasting to the madness I'm used to in the case of (still great to have, mind you) apps like EasyTag or Musicbrainz Picard it's a world of difference.

"Centralised systems were designed with the best of intentions, but were turned against us anyway. And peer-to-peer systems will be exactly the same.

How do we make the next generation of protocols more difficult to weaponise?”

Here’s a clean recording of my #FOSDEM talk “Willow - Protocols for an uncertain future”. This talk was a real labour of love, hope you enjoy it!!!

@deobald @vixalientoots @p2panda @jsparber yes, support nodes /always-online nodes is something we're interested in and have explored in some concepts already. Ideally this would be shared between mulitple apps though.

This bigfer term picture will hopefully become more concrete later this year as part of the system service prototype, but for now maybe we could just have a headless mode in the app as a quick hack :)

Here we go: @tbernard and @adz are at to tell us their plan for a local first desktop, featuring @p2panda and Reflection (wich we fund in class 01).

Setting the stage: "2025 was the year everybody, even those who do not attend @fosdem, realized they are dependent on us tech. We have to organize strategically to change that!"
