@jacobscharmberg that worked. So with a clean device, Iβll try installing /e/ OS again. Thanks!

Always great to get a demo how to download linux iso files from TPB π
@jacobscharmberg thanks for this, I will try it when I'm near the device!
@jacobscharmberg yes and I can copy files over USB, there are 3-4 files you need to copy. But after that, I just does not boot into recovery mode. I'm not to familiar with this stuff, so maybe I'm just missing something or expecting the wrong thing :-)
@richarddebruin No actually, I tried reverting it to Graphene OS to have a clean starting point.
But I think I will just give it another shot, maybe I just missed a step.
The general reactions seems to be 'this should just work' :-)
@jacobscharmberg boot was not locked again no. And by not supported I mean community supported, not company supported ...
Starting my second day of FOSDEM in the decentralized Internet and privacy room (https://fosdem.org/2026/schedule/track/decentralized-internet-and-privacy/)
The more I speak with people and the more I attend events, the more inspired I become to try new ideas.
But that does require more focus. So the first step will be to simplify my (digital) life to free up more time.
Ever since trying to reinstall my Pixel 8a with /e/ OS it is mostly bricked, stuck in the rescue boot stage.
Although the install of the /e/ OS rescue image finishes without errors, the phone will not successfully start it.
The Pixel 8a is not a supported device anyhow, but I was hoping to have a way to get it installed anyway.
I followed the steps using fastboot. Recovering to stock android using the Google webbased installer failed too.
Anyone a god suggestion how to get this thing fixed? Either grapheneOS / stock android or /e/ OS ?
Although I really like the content and the social interactions FOSDEM brought me today, I do see the scale of the event as a downside. It is really, really crowded. Not my cup of tea normally.
This is what I like about events like Hacker Hotel and EuroBSD con: good content and talks, but smaller scale events.
Tomorrow it will be a month of running the Tuxedo Infinity laptop with Zorin als a daily driver, both for personal en business use.
The distro might change, but I view this change as a major success.
The M3 macbook will be wiped clean soon. I'm still pondering if I need to keep it as a second/test device or I should sell it off while it is still worth a good amount of money.
Some nice themes running through the #SocialWeb Devroom at #FOSDEM: storytelling from different national and international contexts (Italy, Netherlands, Germany, Europe); new apps and ideas (badgefed, splinter, FASPs, Spritely); building infrastructure and foundational tech (Bonfire, Fedify, Emissary). This is really great momentum! The speaker list today has been wonderful.
@BjornW H in the basement
Ow yes it worked!
Interesting and funny talk on doing federated badges. I as a life long Scout am really interested in what this could do for Scouting and Guiding
@oldsysops I did not check, but you could be right.
I would like to have an online way to buy merch that supports the Debian developers directly. If anyone knows anything trustworthy give me a ping
Buying more merchandise directly from the source π
@mboelen je bent toe aan iets anders denk ik #enshittification
Minutes to go for the next talk in the social web room.
