A Little Pied Cormorant making the most of the sun. Although they live and hunt in and around water, their feathers don’t have great waterproofing so you’ll often see them stretch themselves out to dry

Forever Changes by Love, 1967

Introduced to me by a boyfriend I was seeing in the late 70s (he still has excellent taste).
I really love this album though it initially flopped on release

More than a couple of tracks that are a great fit for today’s screwed up world.

The cover of the final album by the group Love, titled Forever Changes. The image consists of a composite of the band members, executed in an abstract style, very colourful, reminiscent of psychedelia.

:goose_honk: clearly discussing vital pond business 😉

#Birds #Wildlife #Anhinga #Herons #Egrets
This image captures a vibrant scene of three different types of water birds gathered at the edge of a pond or wetland area. The water has a greenish hue with visible ripples and reflections, and the shoreline is lined with some grass and broken wooden posts.
Identified Birds:
Anhinga: On the far right stands a large, black bird with striking white and silver streaked patterns on its wings. This is likely a male Anhinga, also commonly known as a snakebird or water turkey. Anhingas often spread their wings to dry after diving for fish because their feathers are not fully waterproof.
Tricolored Heron: In the center, there is a medium-sized bird with a slate-gray body, a white stripe down its neck, and a contrasting white belly. This is a Tricolored Heron, which has a relatively long, pointed bill and yellowish legs.
Snowy Egrets: Two all-white birds are visible: one wading in the water on the left, and another perched on the shore in the foreground among some small purple flowers. These

After waiting 10 yrs since planting for our 50 Blue & Black gum trees to have their 1st flowering, Spring ‘25 they finally did.

And today I sighted the 1st 2 Swift parrots (critically endangered) to feed on those trees.

Well worth the wait!

We’ve had occasional visits to random trees in the past, but we planted those seedlings specifically for any Swift parrots that came foraging. They face massive threats to survival from forestry destroying their habitat, to Sugar Gliders eating the adult females.
(Pic is an old one I took in Bruny)

A colourful small parrot called a Swift Parrot. Its back is bright green, with bright turquoise and yellow also showing, along with a purple tail. It’s sitting in a eucalyptus tree and is surrounded by bright pink gum blossoms.

I saw a post recently that mentioned that the fediverse is for talking about your hobbies. I don't usually talk about my hobbies unless someone makes the mistake of asking, but let's give it a try.

The following posts display the clocks I currently own (in non particular order):

2026-01-23

@SteveJB About 25yrs ago, my partner bought himself an old Gustav Becker clock, and kept debating with himself over whether he should start a collection. So, for his next birthday I decided to buy him a clock - I found this old Ansonia - and told him that having 2 clocks is now the start of a collection.
And so it was - I’m sitting here surrounded by ticking clocks, chiming clocks, stopped clocks….

An Ansonia American kitchen mantle clock, sometimes called a ‘gingerbread’ clock due to the flat wood surround extending beyond the main case that is carved with attractive motifs. Below the clock face, the pendulum can be seen behind the glass door that is etched with a geometric pattern.
