Codeberg Pages documentation now lists git-pages as the deployment method to use going forward! https://docs.codeberg.org/codeberg-pages/
thanks to everyone on the @Codeberg team for making this collaboration possible
@liaizon Have to think about what I have to say. I am mainly using Mastodon as user. The code I published, such as the timeline integration into websites, is just working.
Spend the bigger part of my day documenting our new product, Perfect Paw (https://perfectpaw.com), with @zensical.
I can't believe that I am saying that, but it was really enjoyable, and I am pretty happy with the outcome.
We just released Mastodon 4.5.6, 4.4.13, and 4.3.19.
These versions contain various bug fixes, including a fix for a moderate security vulnerability.
Full release notes and update instructions are available on the GitHub releases page.
The #Forgejo monthly report was published ✨
Forgejo v14 was released on time. Some regressions were quickly escalated and fixed. A security release was published for v11 and v13.
A lot of work has been done around the runner: New features and QA.
There are ongoing discussions about improving the issue reporting workflow and the license and copyright attribution in the codebase.
Work on federation is progressing.
The website was moved to our own infrastructure.
Ever wondered how to integrate Netbird into Forgejo Actions?
The following article walks you step by step through it.

#Forgejo 14.0.2 was just released!
We recommend that all installations are upgraded to the latest version.
Check out the release notes and download it at https://forgejo.org/releases/. If you experience any issues with this release, please report to https://codeberg.org/forgejo/forgejo/issues.
Restic @restic is such an unreasonably good piece of open source software... https://restic.readthedocs.io/en/stable/
It works reliably, quickly, the documentation is stellar and you can feel that CLI was carefully designed to address the needs of every user. It's low-level enough that you can integrate Restic with other tools or scripts, but it remains understandable for people without a PhD in filesystems.
It's one of those few tools that I know I can come back to at any time and it will still work.
Your social media account may or may not be your most critical account. Regardless, it is a good idea to secure it accordingly.
Personally, I am using Pocket ID for my own Mastodon instance. Passkey-only access, especially with hardware keys such as Yubikey, is easy, quick, and secure.

Fun fact: The article is fetched via RSS feed from blog. Hence, one single point of truth that updates in real time.
Quickstart guide to setting up Netbird with SSO, including recommendations and tips.
Working on an exciting new project, Perfect Paw (https://www.perfectpaw.com).
It is basically a health OS for animals, starting with dogs.
Perfect Paw's flagship product is The Ruff dog wearable which utilizes advanced technology to collect biometric, health, and genetic data, offering pet parents unparalleled real-time insights into their dog's wellbeing
A year ago, I wrote an article on how to use Syncthing over Wireguard, which you can find here: https://blog.networld.to/syncthing-via-wireguard/.
If I were to implement the same approach today, I would use Netbird with granular policies and posture checks. However, plain Wireguard will remain in place for now. It has proven to be incredibly reliable and robust.
Zensical 0.0.19 ships generation of objects.inv for mkdocstrings-powered documentation sites!
Quick update on the overlay network for the zero trust infrastructure evaluation. The choice is likely Netbird.
Netbird has the right feature set and appears robust enough (evaluation over the next few days and weeks).
Here are some findings:
- Debian 13 (Desktop) Netbird required uninstalling `resolvconf` in favor of `systemd-resolved` for DNS to work.
- Wildcard DNS Zone Resources seem to be incompatible with some devices, necessitating further investigation.
Rest seems to be working.
Making great progress on ZRX, the foundation for the module system that we're cooking up for @zensical – it'll offer several degrees of freedom, and allow for type-safe composition (= plugin interop) – something that MkDocs (now dead) never delivered.
Searching for a true FOSS alternative to the self-hosted S3 backend Minio. Mainly for deployment as one host/drive with ACL and version support.
Rustfs looks promising so far.
We just released Mastodon 4.5.5, 4.4.12, and 4.3.18.
These versions contain various bug fixes, including very important (1 high severity, 3 moderate severity) security fixes.
Mastodon 4.2 is now unsupported, so if you still run it, please update to a supported version as soon as you can.
Full release notes and update instructions are available on the GitHub releases page.
