I like cats, I aspire to a veggie garden (or better yet, a food grove), and I wish I had energy.

"People talk about depression all the time. The difference between depression and sadness is that sadness is just from happenstance—whatever happened or didn’t happen for you, or grief, or disappointment. depression is your body saying, ‘I don’t want to be this character anymore. I don’t want to hold up this avatar that you’ve created in the world. It’s too much for me.’ You should think of the word ‘depressed’ as ‘deep rest.’ Your body needs to be depressed. It needs deep rest from the character that you’ve been trying to play. You need to understand that the person you think you are, and the world you think you live in, are both just constructs. when you let go of that, real freedom comes. It's not sadness anymore—it's a kind of peace."

I got my eyes checked. Something looked funny in one test, so they did a follow-up and that came out fine. Don't even need new glasses!
We found a little outdoor table at the tip shop that will be just perfect for breakfast outside.
We drove past a bridge with some graffiti that read simply HOPE HOPE HOPE. And oddly, it made me feel hopeful.
Capitalism has convinced people that new always equals “better” so if you want to rebel against Capitalism start to recognize that “new” is often just a way to extract more money from you.
Existing (or “old”) things can be functional and beautiful, and often easier to repair.
The word “old” should not be an insult. Not to things or to people.

Wow. I had no idea there was such an involved process to vanilla beans.
@JeffDanielswpg hi, Bean! You are gorgeous. Take good care of your humans today.
Why is my brain doing anxiety about a medical appointment after I've spent the last few weeks feeling impatient waiting for the day of the appointment? Pick a side, brain. Or just chill out, that'd be cool.

This little runner is passing by a very big message. Being happy is sometimes a mask we wear. The white paint on the word happy really makes it pop. Check in on your friends!
@keira_reckons have you tried making your own? That way you can control what's in it and play with flavours. (There's probably someone in your area with an active SCOBY who would be happy to give you a piece to get you started, if you need it.)
The temperature reached a high of 30F/-1C today. I had just cleaned the bird bath and filled it with warm water when this happened. #birds #birding #birdwatching #birdphotography #wildlife #wildlifephotography #photography #nature #naturephotography #HoosierMast
@ghost_shit how well do those flavours combine? Dill and ramen don't sound like they go together, to me — which means it's possibly amazing.
Two days in a row of full sunshine and I'm feeling happy. I don't mind winter/cold at all. As long as I get sunshine.

@RustyFreewheel Yep.
I've come to the conclusion that my imagination is not equal to the task of guessing what else is in the files.
I don't have a suitable adjective to describe the things I've read in the last two days. For the first time I am feeling broken by this. And I know others who feel the same.

Thanks for sharing. I had no idea.
Can 2026 just stop? For a few days?

@masp Our current cats are mostly uninterested in the pots. We do have one that likes to eat leafy greens, but so far he hasn't taken much interest in the potted spinach and silverbeet.
A previous cat, on the other hand, was determined to use a plant pot for her bed. The aloe vera did not survive. Thankfully that the current kitties are kinder to my plants!
@thegarbagebird we moved house a few months ago, which has limited our options for this growing season (Australian summer). Right now it's a potted garden, with the aim of getting some beds set up and fruit trees planted in time for next spring.
Still, it's amazing how much you can do with pots and a couple of thrown-together raised beds on a concrete pad!
