Don't think this Tandy 1500HD is coming back... at least not with the original hardware.

Bought this cheap knowing it had spent time underwater, with the intention of gutting the housing and sticking modern hardware inside. I always try to restore vintage stuff first, but I'm pretty sure this one is beyond saving. I'm a sucker for this form factor though, so I want to do something neat with it.

Hoping to salvage the keyboard, but I'm not sure if it works or how it communicates. Might be possible to buy/build some sort of converter to interface with USB (I am open to any suggestions there) but I'll probably just find a comparably-sized USB keyboard and shoehorn it inside the original housing.

Easy mode would be to stick a Pi, battery, and some bulkhead connectors in the case. Buuuut, I'm also realizing the shell for the LCD is a hair thicker than a Lenovo Legion Go. What if I gutted one of those, stuck it in the LCD shell? Hmm...

I have ethical issues with PayPal and the shit they pull (in particular, seizing money belonging to adult content creators and deadnaming trans folks). I also have two personal experiences with PayPal:

1. Purchased a used vehicle via PayPal, seller never delivered. Contacted PayPal, their response was that seller could pay back $100/mo (on a $3500 car) but they couldn't get me my money back. Forced to file CC chargeback (thankfully I used a CC).

2. Bid on a charity auction at a convention in Germany. Paid via PayPal, who decided to charge my credit card *15 times* in a few minutes. Bank locked CC, PayPal charged checking account, overdrafted checking account. Now stuck overseas with no access to money. Spent 3 hours on hold/shuffled between robots with PayPal and never got to talk to a real person, had to file a stop payment with bank instead.

TL;DR: they're shitty to people I care about, and they've been shitty to me!

I'm thinking it's about time to commission some more artwork of my 'sona! It would be cool to get a piece from an artist I haven't worked with before, so I'm looking for suggestions (yes, you can suggest yourself). So, please hit me with some recommendations fedi friends!

Primarily interested in SFW content although I *might* consider an NSFW piece. Color, maybe shading, full body or close to it. I have character refs, color guides, pose/expression refs, etc. - I promise I'm easy to work with. I'd also like to have the option to crop the finished piece (eg, for use as a profile picture/avatar) and post a copy with proper attribution on my personal not-for-profit neocities site. I am only interested in actual art, not LLM content.

Only caveat is I will not use PayPal. I have Venmo or Zelle, or I can pay through KoFi. Don't get me started on PayPal.

Wish we had a gas oven/range with how frequent power outages are here (at least monthly, sometimes weekly when Xcel needs a quick boost to their financials). Sadly kitchen's not plumbed for it and one home improvement task I would never attempt myself is installing natural gas line, so we settled on an air fryer instead. We can still run that on the generator when grid power is out, should play nicely with solar too!
