‘Which there ain’t no stern-gallery, sir, now we been degraded to a sixth-rate,’ cried Killick with malignant triumph. ‘Stern-galleries is for our betters, and I must toil and moil away in the dark.’

I’m enjoying all the Superb Owl photos, but in honor of the halftime show, are there any photos of bunnies being bad?

Bit of a long shot, but does anyone here know anything about the female British typists who went to Germany in 1945 to type up the peace treaty? My grandmother was one of them!

@peter

I can't laugh at this. I'd be asking Claude to find me a divorce lawyer.

I don't plan to stay up to watch the last football game of the season-- I have to be at work at 7:00.

I have always wondered why this game isn't played on Saturday night when so many more people don't have to get up for work/school the next morning.

I'm looking forward to this week's high temperatures - most are expected to rise above freezing!

The Giant in Aspen Hill had a Delly counter.

When I click on "Find" and a find window opens, the cursor should already be in the window. I shouldn't have to click in the "find" window before I start typing. Looking at you Shotwell (photo manager). #UX

How about "journalists" stop pretending this Republican president deserves the same deference that used to be given to past presidents? #USPos #journalism

I intend to leave it alone as much as possible. The main reason I dropped Aurora was to avoid having to muddle in it to get things to work.

I'm installing linuxmint right now. I had Aurora Linux for about 5 weeks and the software installation manager, Bazaar, was frequently flaky. I've used Mint before. I expect to be happy to have it back. #linux

Yes, that's my impression, and a natural evolution for a site that was already aggregating lots of sellers.

The item I ordered was not a craft item at all. It's a brand-name manufactured product. I guess Etsy has drifted a little from being a crafters market.

2026-02-07

I just ordered an item from Etsy. Without Amazon Prime, and including the shipping, it was $2 cheaper on Etsy than on Amazon.

Our Verizon box is in the garage. When our internet cut out, I checked the garage ground fault circuit and it was not tripped. HA! I should have looked in the breaker box, because we HAD tripped the breaker.

Vamil, where ever you are (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka?), I'm sorry for wasting your time!

There are many videos about history and archaeology that pique my interest on the YouTube web site. As soon as I see AI created illustrations and videos, I click away. Yes, I know that these kind of videos have long relied on illustrations and re-enactments. I don't mind those. I click away from apparent AI content because:

1. The environmental & monetary costs of producing are not borne by the AI owners. Those utility costs are shouldered without the consent of the utility rate payers and my fellow inhabitants of the environment.
2. The creative effort and hosting costs are not borne by the AI owners. The training source materials were taken, almost entirely,.without consent.

Therefore, if you use AI-- at all-- in any situation-- whether or not your boss thinks it is a good idea, then you're a pirate and a pillager. Fuck off. There's no such thing as a free lunch. Look it up.

This is hilarious to me as someone who grew up near Boston. As someone who has lived in the DMV for nearly 40 years, I get it. An inch during drive time will quadruple commute times. MoCo is not letting out early, tho.
