BMWโ€™s latest โ€œinnovationโ€ isnโ€™t about performance or safety. Itโ€™s a logo-shaped screw designed to keep owners out of their own cars. We dug into the patent, the intent behind it, and why Adafruit is already working on a custom bit to undo BMWโ€™s attempt to block repair. Learn more at the link below.

@jwildeboer Yes, and they also will never know the power of procmail. It seems that there is still a procmail port available on FreeBSD. I thought it was long gone.

You can also use the sendmail/postfix alias file to create small mailing lists. This is also not scalable and probably only useful for internal lists as it will definitely break SPF and DKIM.

New blog post: PF Firewall on FreeBSD - A Practical Guide

After years of running PF across multiple FreeBSD servers, I've written up the patterns that work: macros, tables, brute-force protection, NAT for jails, and dual-stack filtering.

Covers everything from basic concepts to production configs, plus a sidebar on authpf for bastion hosts.

If you're running FreeBSD and want a firewall that's elegant, powerful, and actually understandable, PF is worth your time.

@RugbyNerd @ZuilenV It seems to be world rugby's mission to not make sense in what they do. 2023 the opening game was France - NZL. So having easybeats play the home nation in the opening game is not always a given.

Back enjoying my interest after a year or two hiatus. Still just kit beers, this one's an Extra Special Bitter (ESB) I bought from Ontario Beer Kegs. Completely overfilled the pot, resulted in overflow when I added the malts. Split some out to a maslin pan for the boil. Recombined them after the evaporation.

Happily burbling along in my basement. Should finish primary fermentation in three weeks, though the Original Gravity (OG) was much higher than the kit expected.

Multiple electronic circuit boards are arranged on a wooden table, each featuring a keypad and various components. Wires and connectors are attached, indicating they are set up for testing or demonstration. A clipboard with a blank sheet is also visible in the background.

Used to think that Adobe was the company with the most vulnerabilities per LoC, but Fortinet appear to be going directly for the win?

Edit: stole this picture (which is real).

I'm not a smart guy, so I want apps to just have the name of the company in it so I can find it.
"Ubiquity" to start VPN tunnel? No.
"UniFI"? No results.
"Identity".

Dutch Red Cross? Their "Ready2help" volunteer program? Under "Tools2go".
"ASN Bank"? Only as "Bankieren"

hey fellow #MikroTik enthusiasts,

Lately i have consolidated some network infrastructure. Mainly removing dedicated firewall systems where they did not much more than filtering traffic. A task a RouterOS system can do with ease. But when it comes to High-Availability setups there is a caveat: the old systems kept ruleset, VRRP interfaces, virtual IPs, etc. in-sync. Using a more flexible system, like RouterOS, it's up to YOU to keep the configurations working with each other.

To tackle this challenge Iโ€™ve created MikroSync - codeberg.org/securitym0nkey/Mi

- a tool to synchronize RouterOS configurations
- can run directly on the Router (as a container)
- OpenSource - MIT license

Consider #MikroSync early beta - though Iโ€™ve started to use it in a simple production environment.

Happy for any feedback and contributions.

Long shot: do I know anybody in Europe who can provide two dozen 12 row, 80 column punch cards, preferably punched with a specific text? (no advertising)

Background: August of this year marks 45th anniversary of a Nixdorf Computer apprenticeship, and we're meeting. I thought it would be cute to present colleagues with a punch card (which is what we first programmed on) as a souvenir.

Obviously I'd be very willing to pay for the service!

Boosts appreciated.

Her reporting on the conditions white South Africans are being held in by the British government causes uproar.
