inspired by CLAUDE.md, I’ve started putting markdown files named after coworkers into work code repos so I can remind them to stop doing shit to the codebase that annoys me
for some reason they’re all mad at me now, which means ill be adding commands to JEREMY.md for an attitude adjustment
I...can we just stop trying to be reasonable about "AI"?
Like, I get it. Y'all were raised to believe that "adults" are reasonable about *everything* - world-destroying technologies, abusive bosses, global child rape trafficking conspiracies, Nazis - you know, the works.
But that's turned into this knee-jerk "what is the reasonable take on the Torment Nexus?" thing and I'm sorry but there isn't. A. Reasonable. Take.
Except destroy it all and salt the earth it grew out of.

Some people might know "bash russian roulette":

which generates a random number between 0 and 5 and if it's a zero it deletes all your files.
Running an "agent" like Moltbot is basically that with more climate impact.
A study by Anthropic(!):
"We found that using AI assistance led to a statistically significant decrease in mastery. On a quiz that covered concepts they’d used just a few minutes before, participants in the AI group scored 17% lower than those who coded by hand, or the equivalent of nearly two letter grades. Using AI sped up the task slightly, but this didn’t reach the threshold of statistical significance."
Harvard/MIT tested whether foundation models learn true world models (the underlying structure generating data) by how they adapt to synthetic tasks. Even our best models fail to create these models, instead relying on task-specific heuristics that do not generalize.
like, we can't feasibly review every line of slop, it is a DDoS attack on human reasoning, and everyone else sees "oh the tests passed" and clicks ship. augh.
The W3C Security Interest Group has published the first drafts of the following Group Notes:
"Threat Modeling Guide" which describes when, why, and how to perform threat modeling during the development of a specification at W3C; and "Threat Model for Decentralized Credentials" which is the live "meta" Threat Model related to Decentralized Credentials.
