I never expected to see so many trans people on Mastodon. I just came here to get away from Twitter and ended up in the #trans living room it seems. My feed is full of trans people, trans rights, trans issues, trans cuteness etc and not only does it often times fill me with surprising amounts of joy, it's making me a better human I think. Love this. Trans people, you rock.

If you're searching Mastodon, there are special phrases called "operators" that you can include to narrow down your search. For example, if you just want to search your own posts you can include the operator from:me alongside your keywords.

You can combine several operators in one search to narrow it even further, or include a minus sign - to exclude stuff.

From personal expecrience: it doesn't seem to be black kids (or other minority) who do poorly in school per se.
Rather it is those from poorer families who struggle the most.

There is a rather disproportional number of poor black families compared to white.

So we are unfortunately back to the vicous cycle of racism.

For reference: my upbringin is in southerm Brazil, which does not have that a high black population WHEN compared to the other regions.

It Depends!

Showing uses so many more words and require so many more effort from the reader, than just Telling.
If it is important, relevant, yes, show.

Otherwise, just tell: "I so five months passed..."
"Three days later they reached Heaven Falls..."

Both Show and Tell are tools to be used as needed.

Well, it’s officially been a week since I was laid off, so I’m trying to kick myself into a higher gear.

I’m looking for software or firmware development work, either remote, or in the Chicago area. I have combined 20+ years experience doing both low-level and high-level software architecture, design, and coding, as well as some hardware engineering.

I’ve worked with Ruby-on-Rails, C, C++, multiple assembly flavors, and a buffet of other languages and frameworks. (Actually, looking back, the variety of projects I’ve contributed to is pretty wild!)

If I don’t know it, I’ll learn it. I started my last job with absolutely no experience with Ruby-on-Rails, and by the end I was monkeypatching Rails internals to support on-the-fly new tenant creation without requiring config file changes and server restarts.

OK, after a crappy customer service experience and some concerns over privacy I'm on the hunt for a Zoom replacement.

Best would be something that emulates their 'Webinar' mode, i.e. allowing hosts and presenters to share video/sounds/screens, etc, while the audience engages via a text chat mechanism.

Are there any sources to help identify dormant garden bulbs? Ideally pictures, but descriptions or a machine learning system would do. Everything I've found so far generally only has photos of the plants in flower.

I plant a lot of mixed containers every spring, and it's hard to be sure what everything is when I put them back into storage. Especially this year because some of the paper bags rotted and they got mixed together.

@clarablackink there is sizeable amount of art content I get recommened on instagram with the very first image mentioning something about algorythim or "stop scrolling"
they either get me to ignore and scroll past it, or me clicking on "do not recomennd posts from so-and-so"
