If you imitate the silence which I describe, then you are not silent.
You have to find out for yourself what silence is.
Sit quietly and find out; don’t let somebody else tell you.
Krishnamurti(1895-1986) is regarded globally as one of the greatest thinkers and religious teachers of all time.
#Krishnamurti spoke throughout the world to large audiences and to individuals about the need for a radical change in mankind.
This account is for sharing the teachings of J. Krishnamurti: self-awareness, freedom from conditioning, and the Truth.
To see truth or falseness does not demand effort.
We are trying to seek something beyond, something permanent. It requires a great deal of maturity to drop all this. Not in the sense of no sex, no money, no power, but to just understand it and let it go.
The sense of fame, power, position, prestige and being somebody, probably that is the basis of our existence. When we do go beyond all that, if it is ever possible, we either move away from it as a reaction to all of it and withdraw into ourselves, hermetically seal ourselves in ideas or experiences, or in some form or other.
Most of us are interested in #money, #sex and #power. Not mere sex as sex, but all the implications of it: #family, #possessiveness, #domination. We want money that gives us #freedom and #security, a sense of being related. And the sense of power, not only in this world but inwardly, through austerity, control, discipline, a sense of achievement, being somebody, not only today but also tomorrow. Probably that is our make-up. The power to express, to write, pictorially, imaginatively, and allthat
One must question everything in life – your #short or #long hair, the way you #dress, the way you #walk, the way you #eat, what you #think, how you #feel – everything must be questioned to find out, so that the #mind becomes extraordinarily #sensitive, #alive. It is only the highly sensitive mind and #heart that is intelligent, and such a mind alone can #love. Such a mind alone is a #religious mind. #one #jk
So can I look, can the mind be aware of its conditioning? I think it can. Please experiment. Can you be aware that you are a Hindu, a Socialist, a Communist, this or that, just be aware without saying that it is right or wrong? Because it is such a difficult task just to see, we say it is impossible. I say it is only when you are aware of this totality of your being without any reaction that the conditioning goes, totally, deeply—which is really the freedom from the self.
To free the mind from all conditioning, you must see the totality of it without thought. This is not a conundrum; experiment with it and you will see.
Do you ever see anything without thought? Have you ever listened, looked, without bringing in this whole process of reaction?
You will say that it is impossible to see without thought; you will say no mind can be unconditioned. When you say that, you have already blocked yourself by thought, for the fact is you do not know.

The #external, outward imposition of discipline makes the mind #stupid, it makes you #conform, it makes you #imitate.
But if you discipline yourself, if you bring about #order within yourself: watching, #listening, being #considerate, being very #thoughtful, out of that #watchfulness, listening, consideration of others, comes order.
Where there is order, there is always #freedom.
Only when the mind is silent, free from all thought, can truth emerge.

Society is the extension of ourselves; its disorder is our own.
Truth cannot be organized; it has no path, no system.
