@jaypeach53@mastodon.social No plans to decommission calckey.art. I donβt know why it isnβt listed on the site. Perhaps @kainoa has insight.
Did you know that 7 out of the 10 fastest growing #Fediverse servers aren't Mastodon? It's pretty cool! Here are the top servers and their respective account numbers:
1. mastodon.social: +258K accounts (Mastodon)
2. misskey.io: +125K accounts (Misskey)
3. lemmy.world: +60K accounts (Lemmy)
4. mstdn.jp: +35K accounts (Mastodon)
5. lemmynsfw.com +20K accounts (Lemmy)
6. nijimiss.moe: +18K accounts (Misskey)
7. sh.itjust.works: +12K accounts (Lemmy)
8. misskey.design: +11K accounts (Misskey)
9. mastodon-japan.net: +11K accounts (Mastodon)
10. kbin.social: +9.9K accounts (Kbin)
It's really interesting to see how diverse the Fediverse is becoming, don't you think? It makes us wonder -- when do you think the Tech Press will finally acknowledge that Mastodon isn't the only platform in the spotlight? π

I definitely agree! #Meilisearch on #Firefish is quite awesome.
RE: https://infosec.town/notes/9hngpsh3b6k3mnbf
@BigMcLargeHuge@mstdn.social Both are perfectly fine. If you have the financial resources, running an open Fediverse server that allows registrations can be quite rewarding. Just keep in mind that moderation needs to be handled more diligently than on a single-user server.
On the other hand, for most people, running a federated single-user server might be a better choice. It's a more affordable option to consider.
As a #Firefish admin, I really don't have any interest in taking over anyone's identity.
I strongly believe that social media identity is extremely valuable and should not be meddled with. That's precisely why @kainoa made sure to include account migration as a crucial feature for Firefish. I also want to give a shoutout to @Gargron@mastodon.social for being a pioneer in account migration.
Moreover, I truly believe that it's important, if feasible for you, to have your own server. It gives you complete control over your social media identity. If you have the time and resources, self-hosting is a great option. However, if time is limited, going for a fully managed host like #MastoHost or #SpaceHost can work equally well.
Ultimately, the main idea here is that your social media identity should truly and genuinely belong to you.
So, something important to keep in mind when you're using Twitter, or any other Big Social platform, is that they basically have ownership over everything related to you, even your identity. A perfect example of this is the recent saga of the Twitter username formerly known as X.

@jaypeach53@mastodon.social Could you please provide some more information about your question?
#Firefish has been making some big strides since our recent rebrand.
I'm happy to announce that we've expanded our server count to an impressive 553 Firefish servers, with the addition of 53 new servers just last week!
But wait, there's more! We've also achieved a major milestone by becoming the 15th most widely used Fediverse software worldwide. How cool is that? It's definitely an exciting time for us!
@kainoa @gnusocialjp@gnusocial.jp Very cool! Thanks for the mention! @reiver@mastodon.social
@mcrocker@indieweb.social Hey there! Just a quick clarification - it seems like there might be a little confusion. The daily operations of calckey.social are actually handled by @kainoa@calckey.social, not #SpaceHost. I'm just lending a hand with non-op tasks.
But here's some exciting news: #SpaceHost will soon be introducing #Firefish as an option! Keep an eye out for that. Cheers!
Sooner or later, Twitter might undergo another re-branding and become known as Y.
This is because you might find yourself asking, "Y did X happen?β
