Some impressions from this years #FOSDEM : https://ev.phosh.mobi/de/blog/fosdem-2026/
#feedbackd (together with the device themes and #rust bindings) moved to https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/feedbackd/ . Many thanks to the fdo maintainers for having us!
@hazematman @daimonbeing @pine64 @postmarketOS @phosh GTK4 apps work, they just use the cairo renderer. Things only fail if an app forces the GL renderer for some reason rather than getting the GL context by other means.
Organizing #fluConf2026 was a little hectic due to some personal constraints, and it's quite clear we'll need more people involved in order to make #fluConf2027 a reality.
If you're interested in helping to make that happen, please get in touch by joining the IRC channel (#flu-conf on Libera Chat).
My #FOSDEM talk recording from today is already public! Check it out in case you missed the talk (or didn't get into the room because it was packed full)

OMG @braillerap just gifted us an English and a German #Braille version of "Ada & #Zangemann - A Tale of Software, Skateboards and Raspberry Ice Cream". 🤗
It is the first complete book printed this way with #FreeSoftware (#OpenSource) and #Openhardware 🥰
We will have a copy at the @fsfe booth during #Fosdem and @nicorikken will cover the story in our talk on Sunday at 14 https://fosdem.org/2026/schedule/event/R9Q9ZP-ada-zangemann-bestseller-automation/ Big thank you!! 👏
We've just merged some code to automatically scale up the on screen keyboard in landscape on larger screens like tablets also allowing it to use more horizontal space.
While at that we also added the necessary bits to scale up font and icons on the keyboard's keys accordingly which also helps on phones when going to higher resolutions.
There's still some low hanging improvements like scaling down in landscape on phones or improving the touch area for the shortcuts and completion bars. Let us know if you want to help with that!
@grahamvh @phosh I've put it here now: ssh://git@codeberg.org/agx/pacer.git . It is still very PoC but I'll gladly take patches.
It demos how to use submit events to #feedbackd and how to put a counter into #Phosh's ticket-box on the lock screen, so it might have at least some use.
One thing bothering us when playing videos with our little, mobile friendly video player #livi was that playing from video sites like #peeretube or #youtube showed very little information in #phosh's media player widget. This is now fixed on Livi's main branch where it fetches the necessary bits from #ytdlp to display a thumbnail and artist information making it a better companion to the pipeline app too.
We've improved a bunch of other things like faster seeking as well.
Great news from @lynxis in OpenIMSD:
"I've written a profile manager for the QCOM baseband which talks to the PDC service.
The PDC is the persistent device configuration. It controls similar settings as the carrier configuration on Android, such as the APN, SMSC, the IMS functionality, the 5G functionality, ... But the PDC profiles have more control over the baseband than the Android carrier configuration does."

@DrewNaylor That's why the toggles are not built in and why you can do them in your favorite language as long as it can produce the entry point, e.g. https://gitlab.gnome.org/guidog/phosh-vala-plugins.
For people going to #FOSDEM: don't forget to install #Confy:
https://flathub.org/en/apps/net.kirgroup.confy
Confy has the full FOSDEM schedule.
I've installed in on my #Librem5.
@thibaultamartin It's one `nmcli` invocation, I've used that ever since and works without any problems. You can read the whole post for context but all one needs is:
` nmcli connection import type wireguard file <file>`
@thibaultamartin Utility is called `nmcli`: https://blogs.gnome.org/thaller/2019/03/15/wireguard-in-networkmanager/
Good suggestion. We're a bit tight on space in the suggested apps list and target apps there ppl not familiar with Linux can recognize ("what is Matrix?" is still very common) but we could add it to the app grid: https://codeberg.org/phosh-ev/media/issues/18#issuecomment-10145214
