@turmalina jokavuotinen ongelma 😁
Python back-end developer, currently working as a consultant. Been in the industry since 2008. Started off with #PHP, and moved along to #Python, and never looked back.
My interests are everything #linux, #CLITools, #Python, #DevOPS etc. Whenever someone posts something interesting in any of these areas, I'm usually bound to dive into the rabbit-hole...
@turmalina jokavuotinen ongelma 😁
@jolla how do I know which batch I happened to land in? It doesn't state it in the receipt I got, so it's impossible to know. Especially since there was no mention of it (at least not that I noticed anywhere) on the shop page that there would be any batches. Edit: change post language

@glocq sounds like a plan 👍
Do you know of any blog posts that writes about the small quality of life shortcuts, or cool small "secret" things in the Helix editor? Or do you have some cool snippets or configs you'd like to share? E.g. I didn't know about `x_`. The underscore trims any newlines from the selection, when `x` selects the whole line (including the newline). This makes pasting the selected text on the same line, without the need to backspace the newline. How did I never know about this until now? And how many other small things are there that would make my life easier? Please share your knowledge!

@ohmu try to find the thumb drive, then after a while, order a new one. Then find the other only after you received the new one...
If you're into larping, here's some news for you: https://ellariontales.com/blog/blog1-back-to-the-stars
One of the biggest and coolest larps happening in Finland in autumn 2026, if the crowdfunding goes through. Please share and spread the word to your larping friends! The more we share, the bigger the possibility for this to happen!

@nopatience nice that you found the issue. That's always a relief! I hadn't heard of py-spy before. Looks interesting. Need to try it out at some point.
@mikrobitti ja näin saadaan ihmiset toivottavasti vaihtamaan vihdoin Linuxiin 👍
Please do your part! This page makes it easy, just fill in the details, and send the email. I did it, so should you! This same shit is happening all over again. Wtf?

@markwyner @IceWolf @emz thank you! I've been looking for this!
If you haven't tried it yet, I definitely recommend checking Jujutsu Version Control System.
I literally heard about it two days ago, started reading through some tutorials, and already feel like this is something exciting and new in the VCS world. You can use it locally on any git repository you already have, since it uses git as the backend.
Anyone else in the team can keep on using git, and if you feel like it you can switch back to use git at any time.
`jj` feels intuitive, and makes rebasing less of a hassle; actually there is no hassle! How many times have you done `git rebase --abort`, when you're halfway through fixing the conflicts using git rebase? I have quite many times. I hate it.
With jj it's no problem, it won't stop you to fix your conflicts, but lets you continue your work, and fix the conflicts later. And when you do that, it automatically rebases the fix to the child changes. It also lets you do any changes anywhere in the history. If you feel like some change is better to be done in another commit, you can just insert the commit after/before another, and squash the changes. Then continue working as usual.
This is yet another rabbit-hole for me, and I love it! Of course, I still need to use it in my day-to-day work, and I'll probably be going back to the tutorials, and asking stupid questions, but I have a feeling it'll be all right.
Here's a couple of resources I've been reading through:

My golang knowledge is pretty basic. I had to do some updates to a product at work, and it was pretty easy and straight forward. Actually quite fun. Just to learn more golang, I started working on a cli-tool for my Niri setup, and it's actually pretty usable already.
I just want to polish it and clean up the code a bit more before publishing it. Also, since I'm not that good at the language yet, I'm totally not sure if I even do things correctly or the 'golang' way.
Any tips on which pre-commit hooks people usually use? I found one repo that has pretty much everything, but I always welcome alternatives.
I was also thinking about go-semantic-release to handle the package releases.
I know, this is probably quite overkill for a simple project, but hey, I like to learn and do things correctly!
Anyone tried https://www.itter.sh/ here? The concept seems quite cool. It's a microblogging platform entirely run over ssh on a server. From their page:
itter.sh is your escape from the noise. It's a micro-blogging platform accessed entirely via SSH. No web browser. No JavaScript. No endless scroll of algorithmic 'content'. Just you, your trusty terminal, and 180 characters at a time ("eets"). Why? Because terminals are cool. Because less is more. Because sometimes, you just need to type.
Might give it a shot at some point. Just wanted to hear if there are people over there first.
Still needs signatures. Please share and keep the word going:

I think this is something that should've been there in the first place!
I'm quite excited about niri. I had some issues getting screen sharing to work with teams and meet, but got that fixed with the help of the community. Steam had minor problems, but that was fixed by following the wiki. Now I have niri working, and I can't wait to daily drive it. Running on Pop!_OS COSMIC. That was a quick rabbit-hole I dove into 😅
@saaste noniin. Just lopetin puhelun Postin aspan kanssa.
Annoin palautetta.
