This was legal only because the victims were civilians in peacetime. Chemical weapons are banned in war by both the 1925 Geneva Protocol and the1993 Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).

#CWC Article II.clause 9 lists "Purposes Not Prohibited Under this Convention" to include "Law enforcement including domestic riot control purposes".

Gassing soldiers is banned. Gassing civilians is OK.

If the federal government wants its hands on state run elections then let's abolish the electoral college so everyone's vote is counted equally at the federal level.

Americans tend to forget that we're not a single nation. We are fifty separate nations bound together by a collective agreement. That's why the electoral college exists in the first place. We don't select the President. The fifty individual nations collectively select a President. And each individual nation-state gets to run their internal process on how to cast their vote. That's why Nebraska is stripey.

If Republicans want to throw that process out the window, then there is no more need for the electoral college and we can go straight to a popular vote.

Hint: that won't go well for them.

instead of paying for a VPN I wrote a little bash script that spins up a debian vm on digital ocean, opens up a SOCKS tunnel over ssh, then starts tun2socks and adds the routing rules to route everything over the tunnel. doesn't need to install anything on the vm. deletes the vm when it's done. costs cents, I'm thrilled
