Hokusai's "The Whirlpools of Awa" immerses viewers in the captivating interplay of nature's might and beauty. The dynamic whirlpools evoke flowers in their movement, brilliantly capturing the essence of the setsugekka theme. What emotions does it stir within you?

I like your style.
I like the way you move through the world with raggedy Muppet hair, smelling of stale coffee & dusty bookstores, and leaving a trail of confusion and small disappointments in your wake.
The zinc plating is very rough, but it’s thin enough that the components should still be usable, and should actually assist with rust resistance when the equipment goes back into the field.
I had thought the components were stainless steel, but I am now guessing they were chrome-dipped or chrome-plated steel.
I didn’t think too hard before using zinc for the electrodes - it was the cheapest thing I had sitting around to make electrodes from. Next time, we use steel.
An interesting discovery - I tried using electrolysis to clean the rust off the metal parts of my camera-trapping ball-sockets. Perhaps foolishly, I used pieces of zinc for the electrodes, with the result that (a) I have partially zinc-plated the parts of my equipment that were originally rusted, and (b) I was impressed at the pattern of zinc crystals forming out from the cathode.
Anochetus rugosus, a tough little trap-jaw ant from Borneo. The color makes it look cherry-flavored, but I'd be surprised if this ant even lets you think about it.

You’re telling it all wrong! It starts “An Irishman, an Englishman AND a Frenchman walk into a hospital with World War I shells lodged in their rectums…”
Old 1890s pump house, filled with rusted pipes. Algae and ferns add a fantastic pop of green, breathing life back into this space. Somewhere in Luxembourg.

"Our standing rule is: If one of us brings up using GenAI in any of our work, then it's safe to assume we've been assimilated by The Thing and should be burned alive by Kurt Russell," said a game design consultant in the US.
My assumption is that it’s almost impossible to be part of the Chinese leadership without engaging in corruption, which means that everyone in the leadership is vulnerable to a purge if they fall out of favour.

Were we premature in declaring that the West won the Cold War?
I've pulled some of my camera-trapping equipment out of the field for cleaning and maintenance, and was amused again at the way the swamp-wallabies grind their teeth on the plastic knobs on some of the bolts. Some of them are almost chewed right through.
Does that behaviour mean that wallaby teeth grow continuously throughout their life, like rodents?
Disappointed not to find any Proust or Tolstoy in the aircraft seat-back pocket...

“ Minnesotans are insisting that their neighbors are their neighbors whether they were born in Minneapolis or Mogadishu. That is, arguably, a deeply Christian philosophy, one apparently loathed by some of the most powerful Christians in America.”

In the email newsletter from The Atlantic on Sunday, staff writer Tyler Austin Harper writes “And because tyrannical governments can be either liberal or conservative, the Constitution protects those on the left and right equally.”
Outside the US, it is so deeply weird to see this perversion of the English language. A tyrannical government is manifestly not liberal.
Do US conservatives think Stalin was a liberal?
