The mallards are blooming early this year. The early bloom appears to have resulted in just the head growing, and not the rest of the fryer bound body. For the duck foragers, maybe let this seasons crop sit in place so their spores can propagate into full ducks next year.

This year we gave our youngest a small decent keyboard for Christmas, and she's been enjoying it, but in a twist which no one saw coming my wife also started playing. Occasionally, weekly, then daily.

We've been together almost 20 years, and this is the first time she's had a hobby like I have hobbies, and it's very satisfying to see her enjoy herself so much.

So for her birthday I bought her a "proper" adult-sized keyboard/piano - nothing too fancy, a Yamaha beginner's model - and some sheet music. I hope that in a year we'll be able to play and sing something together, I'd love that.

No real point to this post, just a bit of every day life I wanted to share :)

I was hoping for a follow-up along the lines of the novel Dragon's Egg.

Hej there 30 to 50yr olds. I just watched #startrek #TNG season 3 episode 1 "evolution", where Wesley casually creates an entire new species of nanobots, almost destroys the ship and forces an entire planet to be dedicated to the relocation of this species.

The episode ends abruptly with Wesley's mom and space-Whoopi Goldberg gossiping about some teenage girl.

Did we ever find out what happened with the new species? And if Wesley was told not to create life as part of homework assignments?

Does anyone sell a small affordable lasercutter / engraver that's just enough to do one or two mm thick MDF / board?

Whoever said "There are no passengers on Spaceship Earth. We are all crew." clearly never dragged a distracted toddler through a snowy woodland.

Toddler is having a sick day btw. Which means that 30 minutes after the drop-off daycare called with a message that they figured out what toddler had for breakfast.. So I picked them up, had no more puke all day but also a toddler refusing to eat or drink normally.

So toddler has been on a rehydration solution called Revolyt. And is... having the best day:

Toddler is super into child safety and making things proper. Here they're making sure future toddler doesn't accidentally open a kitchen cabinet with frisbees / dinner plates.

The toddler of 30 seconds in the future doesn't seem to appreciate the toddler of 30 seconds in the past though.
