#OnThisDay, 13 Feb 1907, around 15 suffragettes rush into the lobby of the House of Commons in London: around 60 more are arrested outside.

The picture shows their release the next day.

I've always wanted to make a quilt honoring the lives lost in the Triangle Shirtwaist fire, but I could never have done anything as good as what Helen Geglio has done here. #Sigh #WhenYouKnowYouWillNeverBeThisCreative

The Triangle Fire: Flightless Birds
52 x 40″
Cotton, linen, found shirtwaist blouse and lace

#Quilting

Appliqué quilt with a central image of a brown brick tower building, with symbolic flames coming out the top floors. A found shirt has been stitched in such a way that the building appears to be wearing it (or perhaps is being held within it.) Flames are also coming off of the sleeves of the shirt which are raised as if asking for help. The background of the quilt is light blue (top), grey (middle) and black (near the bottom) and blue dyed white lace is placed in the bottom left corner and lower right side. Dark blue triangles are falling down the tower and leaves appear to flutter across the scene as well.

It's amazing to see posts on r/Seattle from people complaining about traffic and public transit difficulties downtown on this day of celebration.

The estimate of a million people downtown for the #Seahawks parade has been widely advertised since Sunday, as have the expected disruptions to public transit.

If you expected a semi-normal commute on a day when 1,000,000 people are in the downtown of a city with 800,000 people then I don't know what to tell you.

I read exactly one novel by Asimov and vowed never to read him again because his female characters were so poorly written.

I didn't know he was a misogynist prick out in the real world but I can't say I'm surprised.

Smart people don't ignore the risks of and other viruses before important events. These are the members of the U.S. women’s Olympic cross-country ski team posing for a photo Thursday, Feb. 5 in Italy. Not only are they wearing masks to make sure they can compete healthy, they are living outside the Olympic village in an off-site hotel during the entirety of the Games — a substantial financial investment intended to protect “health and wellness.”

People are all “ how could #Epstein happen? How could grown men abuse hundreds of girls and there be no consequences?”

This week, at a high school “#ICE out” protest in #Buda, TX, a grown man, 45-year-old Chad Michael #Watts, was so incensed by a little girl, that he stopped his car, got out and attacked her, taking three other people to pull him off.

Was he initially arrested? Na. Was he only arrested when a ton of video came out? Yep. Is he a Magat? Of course he is. Did our governor have any words of comfort for this child, or suggest the man did anything wrong? Don’t be ridiculous.

He and the #GOP are cutting funding to schools that obey the constitution by allowing protests.

That’s how #Epstein happened. Girls aren’t “people” to far too many men. Sure a little girl got pummeled by a grown ass man, but how very dare she have an opinion he didn’t like?
