Some days, having worked as a tech artist for a decade, has me feeling like Lunch Lord from Girls5eva. You want me to make a single crystal for the game? Sure, just let me build a system to generate an infinite amount of any type of crystal #techart #geometrynodes #Blender #gamedev

We're kicking off 2026 with some more tweaks on the demo, and getting a head start on a more polished future version by working on a template rig for the human NPCs in our game A Corporate Machine #screenshotsaturday #blender #indiegame #gamedev #acorporatemachine

For this #screenshotsaturday, we’re going back in time some months to share a silly trial render from when we were exploring the look of the office dwellers in A Corporate Machine.
We’ve since ditched the thumb-shaped heads… but the overall look and feel is still there #gamedev #indiegame #blender

Many fixes for the major release!

🔶 Blender 5.0.1 is out! It fixes 132 issues found in the previous release. If you’re on 5.0.0, it’s highly recommended to update.

We made a mess of the demo level #screenshotsaturday #godot #indiegame #gamedev

2025-11-30

We had a busy week between working on the prototype to get it ready for some casual testing är a gamedeveloper pub on Wednesday, and profiling more finished art in the lookdev environment. Also just a lot of setting-up-a-new-company things mastodon.gamedev.place/@splend

A fun pattern in game design is to furiously chase down a novel an clean solution to a problem only to fail at reinventing it several times and then realising why the current solution is pretty clean already.

Yay! #Blender 5.0 just dropped!

2025-11-20

@RedGlow yes, basically. Metal should be more performant than Vulkan on Mac so it should perform even better when switching back. And at that stage it will be alright to profile through Xcode since the biggest issues will already be solved and you'd need the extra precision from an actual snapshot anyway. At least that's my expectation so far.

2025-11-19

@RedGlow follow up: switching the backend from Metal to Vulcan will make the visual profiler work on Mac. So much easier to hunt for big bottlenecks in a plan right off the bat.

2025-11-18

@RedGlow Oh, and not having proper profiling for the GPU in Godot on the Mac is really bothersome. I don’t like having to go into Xcode for that this early just to get some idea of where the big bottlenecks lie.

2025-11-18

@RedGlow Thank you. Internalising Godot’s handling of glb scenes and inheritence or instancing has probably been the things that stumped me most at first, as someone coming from Unreal, Unity and CryEngine. But now I sort of love the cohesiveness of the system, and inheritence on a scene basis is wonderful and there’s so much potential to set up time saving systems for an asset pipeline.

2025-11-18

@atillalifeson That would be nice! Just agreeing on using and lifting a common universal scene description would be wonderfu. glTF is a bit finnicky to get into at first but now I’m loving it, and not really missing the closed up FBX-blackbox at all.

2025-11-18

@grau Thank you! It took a few tries to get the shape language nailed down, but I’m feeling pretty comfortable working with it now.

And it imports into my LookDev scene in Godot without a hitch #blender #godot #gamedev #indiegame

Last week I started work on a template rig as part look development and preprod for our game A Corporate Machine. Got stuck trying to get the mouth as easy to pose as I was imagining it. After a weekend of scratching that itch I think I got it where it should be #blender #godot #gamedev #indiegame
