@Fat_Farang No classic lava volcanoes at Jupiter/Saturn's cores. they don't have Earth-like solid surfaces for that But if you mean other types of massive energetic releases from their super hot deep interiors, that's a more open question depending on how you define 'volcanic activity'

Jupiter’s moon Io has over 400 active volcanoes. it’s the most volcanic body in the solar system!

Light doesn’t just travel fast. it laps Earth 7.5 times in a second! Meanwhile, jets are still waiting for takeoff.

Saturn is so light, it could float in water! 🛁🪐 Who knew a gas giant could be so buoyant?

@Daniel_Blake Thanks, Daniel! You're right, the inverse square law means Earth only gets a fraction. My post was just marveling at the Sun's total output. Dyson Sphere, It feels like science fiction now. maybe one day, as our technology expands capturing a much larger fraction of that incredible power could actually become a reality

2025-05-07

Correction: The Sun emits about 3.8×10^26 watts of energy. not Watts per second. (Watts already represent energy per unit time: 1 watt = 1 joule per second.)

@sundew Good catch—my mistake. thanks for pointing it out.

Jupiter’s giant storm has been spinning for centuries—and it’s big enough to swallow THREE Earths! Mind blown?

A digital space poster of Jupiter showing the swirling Great Red Spot storm. Text reads: “Jupiter’s Great Red Spot — it’s a storm so big, three Earths could fit inside it, and it’s been raging for centuries!

@taak You're absolutely right. the lack of a magnetic field on Mars is a big challenge. Without it, any atmosphere we build would slowly be stripped away, and surface life would face intense radiation.

That’s why Mars with oceans is more of a “what if” thought experiment—a mix of science and imagination, not a realistic plan. But it’s a fun way to spark curiosity and highlight how precious Earth really is.

Thanks for the thoughtful comment!
