Summer loves to cuddle so while we waited for there to be enough light to go to the pantry and a quick walk she curled up on my lap. She positions herself so it is easy to keep an eye on her pal.
The flowering tree was next to the pantry.

@StumpyTheMutt In the early 80s there was big demand in this part of Wisconsin for WC and WDs with the narrow front from guys who’d use em for stuff like clearing small lumber piles and so on; they preferred the narrow fronts for work in the woods because the wide fronts were a bitch in there. I actually sold a couple of kits to convert wide fronts to narrow on those tractors.

@StumpyTheMutt Well, funny you should mention that; on the OTHER side of my little “entertainment center” is a 1/16 scale Allis-Chalmers WD-45 narrow front tractor my folks got me before I moved to my first radio job in Nebraska in 1984. While I spent seven years at a Deere dealership in southeast Kansas in the 90s and into the early 2000s, when I was in high school, I worked in the parts department of a now since long defunct Allis-Massey Ferguson dealership and sold a shit ton of WD parts!

Two of my favorite things, my cat Nubs and one of my (yes, one of em) John Deere toy tractors, this one a 4440 with duals.

During the dawning of the twentieth century, it was widely-presumed that people of African descent had little history besides the subjugation of slavery. Of course, it is obvious today that Africans have significantly impacted the development of the social, political and economic structures of not just the United States but also the world. Credit for the evolving awareness of the true place of blacks in history can, in large part, be bestowed upon one man, Dr. Carter G. Woodson. Dr. Woodson's parents had been enslaved, so he understood the importance of a proper education. Though he didn't begin his formal education until the age of 20, he earned his high school diploma, bachelor's and master's degrees in the span of a few years. Then, in 1912, he became the second African American to earn a PhD from Harvard and was the first person of enslaved parents to earn a PhD in history!
