@brezelradar@norden.social I was really lucky. I waited roughly ten minutes which felt like ages in the heat. Didn’t know the schedule which is not really reliable anyways.

June 2024: Lucky shot. :) Airport Rail Link (standard gauge) above the new yellow monorail which is crossing the narrow gauge tracks below. A third train would have been awesome. But that’s really rare and it was way to warm Bangkok. ;)

A few weeks ago I had the chance to visit the Singapore Rail Test Center where Siemens Mobility showed their new Signaling X for Mass Transit for the first time. Now that the article is online (at Heise Online within the Missing Link series): Here are a few more pictures. The last picture is from the Jurong Line construction. Somewhere in the middle between the SRTC and the city center.

I usually don’t post my articles here. But let’s make an exception. @jrkyushu_senden_official started a collaboration with Nintendo today that’ll last until the end of June 2026. I am excited and probably have to adjust my annual trip to East Asia a bit. Two Shinkansen and one Series 885 will be in this Super Mario livery running through the Kyūshū region. Including the new super shiny Nishi-Kyūshū-Shinkansen to Nagasaki (February 2026). It might be even possible to take all three trains in a row. But we have to wait for the official schedule and even pictures. There are none. Just a few fake ones with the wrong train set. Additional pictures from my trip to Nagasaki a few months ago.

This is a nose gear tether to keep a plane grounded so to speak. ;) It was just a precaution while unloading this Fedex 777 while I visited CGN (Köln/Bonn airport) a few weeks ago. There are other systems to prevent a plane to tip over. On a passenger plane you might not be allowed to deplane. That actually happened to me on a flight to Cork a while ago. 😂

In October 2018 I had the very first chance to try out a high speed rail system in the US. Well, technically higher speed rail. The diesel-powered Brightline trainsets were a lot of fun. What a difference to typical trains in the US by Amtrak it was. And look at those diesel locos from my lounge view. :)
