Not me, trying to wrangle #radon mitigation out of a landlord š¬
Wish me luck, y'all.
Hi!
Me: millennial white woman, creaky. I only boost images with alt text.
I like: cats, dogs, science, green spaces, urban wildlife, art by humans, and sleep. Sleep is so great.
Not friendly to: transphobia, queerphobia, racism, or Israel apologists.
Profile pic ID: the back of a screen printing template inked with teal and green shows a mug, spoon, and heart-shaped tea bag.
Header pic ID: a cute random cat is making eyeContact and wearing a pink surgical face mask, badly.

@Dangerous_beans those leaves (tattooed) are lovely!
@sbourne very crafty.
She spends a lot of time on YouTube, watching bird videos
It can't be good for her critical thinking skills...

@redoak I have seeds and trellises and a seed map laid out to put food plants next to the sidewalk with invitation for passersby to partake.
Landlord did not know who they was fuckin' with.
My technique for not bringing home pocketfuls of beach rocks is portrait photography. Brace yourselves
@docdieterlen it's the most wonderful time of the year
š± Celebrating the start of making newspaper pots in which to start seeds with the annual reposting of the instructions for the pots!
These are square pots. You can plant the entire pot into the ground, but I usually gently pull off at least some of the newspaper first.

Here we see an ant.
This ant is engaged in a life or death struggle with the wolf.
You can see the ant creeping up on the wolf on all sixes.
Now he stops to observe. Satisfied that the wolf has not heard him he approaches nearer.
With great skill he chooses his moment and then, quick as a limpet, with one mighty bound buries his fangs in the wolf's neck.
The wolf struggles to no avail. A battle of this kind can take anything up to 15 years because the timber ant has such a tiny mouth

I *love* The Noise, and am banned from making it when we play Wingspan (the cats don't like it).
"Burdensome regulations" corporations got good at making their grievances sound relatable. Like the HOA won't let them plant the type of grass they want, when what they wanted is to put uranium in your taquitos
@amyfou 100% me trying to go to sleep
@ienvision he looks so pleased about the entire chilly affair
I figured someone, somewhere, is trying to grow food that doesnāt murder the soil. Someone has terabytes of wildlife camera monitoring and drowning in footage. Someone has a brilliant idea and absolutely no software skills or budget.
Maybe we can help.
Weāre just people who can code, but maybe ājust people who can codeā might be exactly what someone needs right now.
Weāre already collaborating with some rewilding projects, and weād like to do more of it and meet more people trying to do things that matter.
The few people we talked to, who are fighting the important fights, are using broken tools, or no tools at all.
Maybe we can be of use to people protecting and restoring ecosystems, innovating sustainable food systems, or those tracking whatās actually happening to the living world around us.
We donāt have all the answers. I donāt even have most of the questions most days, and Iām trying my best to learn. But weāre good at software, we can build things that work, and weād rather build things that matter.
To end this thread, Iām casting a wide net but if youāre trying to save one specific part of the world and software is the thing standing between you and doing it betterāplease talk to us! We want to meet you.
