This one is special, for more reason than one. Not only is this an actual Lashunta, but, thanks to Chris, this one is my commission. She doesn’t have a name (she’s not Vaeol), but she is an Outrider.
One detail I really appreciate Chris putting into the pic is her armor and the fact that it’s not pure steel. Instead, it has a damascene treatment - precious metal inlays over a steel patina, similar to gunbarrel-bluing (steel can actually oxidize in multiple ways. red rust is just the easiest and most corrosive kind). On a world as hot, tropical, and humid as Castrovel, steel treatment is a necessity against corrosion.

Lashunta Architectual Inspiration
The Pantheon in Rome

A few times in my worldbuilding exercise, I've mentioned the ~Veiefiraeu~ the Sun-Temple in Son dedeicated to Matarasse - Burning-Mother. This is my inspiration for the interior of Burning-Mother's temple.

Castrovel is a humid cloud-covered, rainy planet, whose inspiration lies in early Sci-Fi's imagination of what a habitable Venus might be like. In Son's geographical region, they get actual sunlight for maybe at most 20% of the year - 30 days or less.

The Lashunta built this to worship the Sun for those fewer than thirty days they get to see it.

Here is a pair of good potential templates to turn into Lashunta. I like the armor style, which reminds me of Roman lorica segmentata, though the lack of leg-armor for Damaya Shotalashu Cavalry is problematic. I like the crown, since, as mentioned in previous posts, I envision this kind of headgear being important for the Lashunta upper-classes. I also like the sword blade, since this kind of recurve yataghan/kopis is what I've had in mind. This hilt, however, is odd.

It is Bloggies awards time and while there are some well-written pieces, I am not excited by the process.

I am struck by how many of the pieces read like reiterations of stuff that has been said before and, because it is OSR-dominant, it is quite a narrow range of stuff.

This is partly a problem of social capture (established bloggers and past winner literally campaign to get posts shortlisted) but also a reflection of the fact that #ttrpg people tend to view disagreement as a social threat.

I've played Marvel Superheroes (1984), ie FASERIP on and for over twenty years, and I spent about 3 years running it.

Over my trip, I decided to simplify the game for my niece.

After that, I decided to tackle the other issues I'd had over the years. MSH is still one of my favorite systems, being super easy to play. I've wanted to play ICONS, a modernized MSH with simpler rules as well, but I wanted to go very deep- super simple, while keeping the creative expression of MSH, and maybe enhancing it.

And I think I've done it.

The next step is to play test it.

Would anyone be interested in playing a little superheroes?
