I asked my supervisor about citing sources I have never read. I couldn’t find a copy, everyone lnows what’s in it and the source is regularly cited. He said just cite it. It does not sit right with me. #PhDLife

A reminder for every researcher out there: Your #PhD journey needs both the practical (planning, acting) AND the intangible (dreaming, believing).
Don't let anyone tell you that vision and hope aren't valid parts of the process. 💭
"To accomplish great things,
we must not only act, but also dream;
not only plan, but also believe"
- Anatole France
Going to pause on thesis today, got some design work to do ▶️ Site map for one client ▶️ site migration for another. Then deliveries later. I prefer to work on my thesis, it's more rewarding, but it does not pay the big bux (yet) - Also a pause will let the big edits I did yesterday really sink in #PhDLife
I just spent 11 hours on my thesis. Brain is foggy and tired. Intro done, Lit Review is almost there and Meth0dology is going to be HUGE! My data scare will be resolved in a couple of days #PhDLife
I just ended my very full day, time to down regulate and get some sleep, I want to start a bit earlier tomorrow and fix my third and final paper. I had a panic today because I thought my data was all mixed up! #PhDLife
Had really productive week on my thesis. Yesterday I learned how to do ANOVA in python AND how to analyse it - and applied it to a set of output data in my second paper (it needed more than a visual analysis - feedback from a journal) and I was able to completely edit and finish it. Earlier this week I scrubbed and polished my first one too 🥰🥰🥰 So that is two papers done and dusted this week! One more to go. Tempted to do some this weekend but I need down time. #PhDLife
Fascinating research on the lived experiences of and advice from PhD moms. Impressive to make qualitative analysis when n = 998! doi.org/10.1080/0729... #PhDLife #PhDMom

Today I completed my author’s course for early-career researchers and PhD students at our university.
We focused on things that are often missing from formal curricula: how to design a study that does not fall apart halfway, how to work with scholarly sources, and how to keep coherence between research questions, methods, and results.
I hope it became one small step toward a more conscious and sustainable research path for the participants.
Day 4 #LeidenForce Winter School: Tomas Cerda (soon ISTA – SEML), Aymeric Allemand (postdoc, @ULBruxelles TIPS Lab), Senthil Kumar Parimalanathan (@ULBruxelles TIPS Lab) shared their latest work on droplets & interfaces.
