J’ai gagné 80Go en reéencodant en AV1 un quinzaine de films avec #ffmpeg , pas mal.

Par contre dès fois ça augmente la taille, genre avatar qui est passé de 3.5go a plus de 5 (je n’ai pas gardé du coup).

Et des fois la commande ne marchait pas pour certains films en faisant v:c les options et copy pour le flux audio et sous-titre, par contre en mettant juste la vidéo ça fonctionnait et ffmpeg décidadant de réencoder les autres flux.

My audio pipeline can use either #CoreAudio or #FFmpeg or #libopus for codec purposes. The biggest shock was realizing that using pipes is a lot easier than an API, and that thinking like #plan9 isn’t as crazy as it first seems.

Today I ventured into streaming audio to my networked devices via linux.

J'avais envie de passer du preset 6 au preset 4 pour le petit boost de qualité dû à l'option "Global Motion Compensation" activée au niveau 4 et en dessous, mais le temps d'encodage, c'est too much.
Je passe de 1.2 - 0.5 fps en preset 6 à 0.5 - 0.1 fps en preset 4 💀
Trop pour moi, tant pis je reste en preset 6. Good enough. (C'est déjà excellent.)

EDIT: J'aurais dû mettre à jour ffmpeg. C'est maintenant tout à fait tolérable en preset 4 !

Ich versuche gerade einen Weg zu finden die komplexeste Szene in einem Video zu ermitteln um an dieser Szene CRF Tests durchführen zu können.
Zwar bietet #ffmpeg einige Tools dafür, doch es ist gar nicht so leicht dort ein festes Ergebnis zu bekommen.

Also wenn es ein Ding gibt, was ich durch Video-Komprimierung gelernt habe ist:
Man darf einem CRF Wert niemals blind vertrauen. Was der Encoder unter Qualität versteht ist nicht unbedingt das, was unser Auge als Qualität wahrnimmt.

Bei dem einem Video ist ein CRF Wert von 21 angemessen, während das andere Video tatsächlich einen Wert von 5 braucht, um keine großen Blöckchen zu bilden, bzw. um die Farben nicht bluten zu lassen.

Сегодняшняя проблема заключается в том, что кодирование видео Intel Vulkan отключено для графического оборудования Intel Gen12.5 и более новых моделей. Это означает, что на данный момент видеокарты Intel Arc Alchemist и Battlemage, а также интегрированные графические карты Meteor Lake и более новых моделей больше не будут поддерживать кодирование видео Vulkan в последней версии драйвера ANV в Mesa.

Part 3 of 6 | While still in Flow, I asked Gemini to animate the scene, which over all did a great job. However, half way through the scene, Gemini had the skier defy physics and the skier started skiing up the mountain. I used the amazing open source software @kdenlive to cut the scene. Which worked out well as Mastodon has a 2MB limit on cover images.

I’m am amazed almost daily by the both power and esoteric complexity of #ffmpeg.

Does anyone know how to convert a #webm file to #mp4 using #ffmpeg?

.. .. I know what you're thinking: "that's super easy, just run ffmpeg -i input.webm output.mp4"

And yeah, it's that easy, in roughly 50% of cases. Specifically when your video's height *happens to be* divisible by 2. But if your height *happens to be* an odd number, hooo boy, ffmpeg does not get happy.

Can't it just automatically chop off the last row of pixels???
