Here’s a screenshot of my new song ‘She’s An Island Girl’ in the Tracktion Waveform DAW. Seven tracks. Drums, rhythm guitar, solo keys, rhythm keys, bass, vocals and guitar solo. Yellow track is a blank song structure track to give me some reference building the song. Rhythm and solo guitar was Danelectro 59 through Strymon Iridium and Keeley compressor. Keys tracks were Dano through EHX B9 Organ Machine pedal and Keeley compressor. EHX B9 setting was classic rock with cranked modulation and percussive click. Question: any thoughts on song structure/form for writing instrumental music? I wanted to try and constrain myself to a simple form and do a verse/chorus/verse type song. But I also know a lot of instrumental songs are often just sections with motifs, and can have all sorts of layouts in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binary_form particularly if you get into using outlines of things like sonatas. When do you think these different forms are better or worse for instrumental music?

I know, for example, that Aaron Marshall of Intervals often says he’s sticks to a VCV structure so it is more accessible to folks that listen to pop and rock music.

If I use the phrase "gone off my/her head" in song lyrics as a person from Kansas, USA, is that going to be incomprehensibly British to my "average" listener (which is zero people, I know that, ok, I just crave CLARITY) or at best seem pretentious and jarringly out of place / context?

Yea, yea, I know. Who cares.
I care about these things.
There's no excuse for sloppiness or ineffability just for the sake of "cleverness."

Seems like this is not feasible yet.
