Was just in a meeting about the future of #JATS and #BITS and #STS #NISO standard was of representing and interchanging journal articles (mainly #STEM) and books between authors, publishers, feeds, platforms, systems.
This is a complex ecosystem with a lot of very necessary and carefully managed metadata, and the #XML markup is a huge win for them.

Tras estudiar un poco/bastante el formato XML JATS (Journal Article Tag Suite), en RIBES ya tenemos 2 trabajos en este formato además de en PDF, HTML y EPUB. Los hemos diseñado con JATS version 1.2 y tirando de manuales y ejemplos (https://jats.nlm.nih.gov/publishing/tag-library/1.2/element/element-citation.html) y validando continuamente (https://jats4r-validator.niso.org/). Además de que no tenemos errores en la validación del DTD (Document Type Definition), tampoco tenemos errores en el JATS4R Schematron (JATS for reuse). Apenas unos warnings pero que hemos decidido dejar así por conveniencia en su contenido.
Poco a poco iremos convirtiendo a JATS los otros 6 trabajos que tenemos ahora.
Otro asunto es el plugin de visualización de los JATS. En la editorial tienen el de eLife Lens... y no nos gusta: vemos muchas limitaciones, no muestra las footnotes, en móviles no es responsivo, nos resta un día a las fechas de published, received, etc.; y lo malo es que vemos que a otras revistas incluso de otras editoriales les pasa igual...
Quizá optemos por desactivar el plugin y tener el JATS para su descarga. Teniendo el HTML tan simple y efectivo que hemos logrado, no aporta mucho ver el JATS tipo HTML.
