Bees flying today, February 11, 2026.
Jag vet att det är långsökt, men känner nån här en biodlare i Eda kommun (Värmland) som kan sälja mig två bisamhälle?

Good Late-Morning To You. ☕+🍫 I've just come back in from morning chores & cleaning old comb off of some frames (it was almost black on some & full of moth eggs from overwintering). Thinking I might render #beeswax today? 🤔 #beekeeping
Over the weekend Hubby ordered me a 3 lb. package of Carniolan #bees for pickup in April. I'm still hoping to catch a swarm this spring though. 🤞🏼
Hubby also slept thru his alarm this morning. Guess who saved him from being late? 😌
Have a good Monday!
[New post] How much do we think about the consequences for the colony of the manipulations we impose on them? Every split, artificial swarm or nuc made involves a subsequent restoration of the balanced worker population … and some maniulations may be 'better' for the colony than others.

It warmed up and the sun was out a little today so the bees were flying from all five hives. The center hive hasn't shown much signs of life except for condensation running out of it on the damp days, almost no dead bees from it. It's the hive that doesn't reduce it's numbers for the winter and eats through two deep boxes of honey.
Someone close to me who loves to garden said Punxsutawney Phil is a rat bastard. 😆
He definitely is a rodent who probably didn't know his father and I understand her frustration. I'd like to get my beehives opened back up. 😕 This whole winter thing is getting old.

[New post] No swarming and huge honey yields? Well, perhaps 😉. The Demaree method offers this, but needs attention to make it work properly. A 'How to' guide, listing what to do … and what not to do.

First bee sting of 2026. (right deltoid, minor, bees angry because they swarmed.. in December... before a massive atmospheric river.. and their requeening failed.) Gave them a frame of fresh brood, from ANOTHER hive that apparently decided it was swarming season, but managed to swarm successfully). Southern California. We're 10-20F above normal today, per the NWS. #beekeeping
I have a nuc order placed for spring and I can't stop thinking about how much I cannot wait to meet each and every one of those little bees.
The STL Beekeepers meeting got switched to Zoom, which I appreciate. Carving 2-2.5 hours out of my Tuesday evening isn't always easy. This is the 1st time I've been free in 4 months. I'm more than ready to get my bees and get going after the BS with the city last year. The new apiary location feels perfect but the 1st full season there should tell.
[New post] Tin hats on! How does a pollen dearth produce hangry bees? Is it different from a nectar shortage, and why is it important to recognise these environmental determinants of colony temperament?

Oops. Tried to seal up this hive so a tree trimming company could work at a property unimpeded, and there was a hole somewhere. No one got stung though, yay! They eventually all went home. #beekeeping
