For this week’s call of “Endings”, I want to share the Ending theme of a show I haven’t actually watched. But I love the high-tempo song “Nippon Egao Hyakkei” by Momoiro Clover Z and now that I think about it, it was also my first touchpoint ever with Rakugo (that was way before Rakugo Shinjuu and Akane-Banashi).

Someone already mentioned Zenitsu from Demon Slayer and he takes the crown, but for me the whole main trio (Tanjiro, Inosukr, Zenitsu) is annoying when the series tries to be funny 😩
And I can tell you I have bailed on series where the first queer-coded person is a bad person who lives out their queerness in all the wrong ways (like being transgressive to characters who clearly don’t want it or being a sadist who just tortures people, stuff like that). I don’t even remember the name of that particular show I’m thinking of where I really stopped watching, but it happens way too often.

I don’t easily throw around superlatives, but I really loved the first episode of #StarDetectivePreCure. It’s clearly trying to not just repeat what all the seasons before have done. It was a good story about solving a mystery and didn’t try to explain too much yet but hinting a lot and I’m all there for it.

@KuudereKun The 名探偵 (meitantei) in the title is the standard word for great detective.
But they did put a Star symbol in the 名 character (it literally means something like well-known or famous).

The recent series titles feel like they’re a lot more conscious of overseas fans, “You and I-dol” even seemed more clever than the Japanese “Kimi to Idol”.

What annoys me a bit is that for some reason the MangaPlus app on my new iPad seems to often “forget” that I already read a chapter. I mean, it means I can read them again given the “first time free read” for older chapters, but it takes time to figure out where I was and not search for the last chapter I remember reading.
It helped that I made a screenshot from Ichi the Witch the last time I read and can see when I made it, so I must have read chapters that are older than that date.

I am continually saddened that Dr Martens got rid of their ForLife brand and only honour the guarantee by sending you new boots. The whole bloody point was that they’d designed hard wearing boots that they would make every attempt to repair and only replace if necessary. (What a suggestion!)

Husband is gaming online with friends so my evening program is catching up with #ShounenJump titles on #MangaPlus.
I never manage to read the newest chapters as they release. I’m 4 chapters behind and tomorrow the new ones are coming…

@cthellis The other shows where I’m aware Angela did opening or ending themes for are “Seitokai Yakuindomo”, a school comedy; “K”, and both seasons of “My next life as a villainess: all routes lead to doom”. None of them is a really big thing, I guess.

@Ragashingo I vaguely remember accidentally jumping into episode 2 of some show and being impressed that they don’t do a lot of exposition, but that is quite something 😆

We went and watched the first episode of the second season of Hazbin Hotel and it made me wonder again how I could have gotten through the whole first season. It’s all so exaggerated and fast, I can’t take the emotional parts seriously at all 😐
It’s really not made for me.

I didn’t have to think long about Openings. To this day, a favorite of mine is the opening theme of Shikabane Hime - “Beautiful Fighter” by Angela 🎵
I love the song and I think it’s a great video that accompanies it, bringing across the dark atmosphere of the series and showing some truly amazing animation.
