It will never stop being funny to me that the whole "you can't trust Wikipedia because anyone can edit it" scare happened and now Wikipedia is the only trustworthy website because it turns out profit motive is the reason things turn to shit.

One of the kids at the school I volunteer with was upset today because he got called down to the principals office to get repremanded for "PDA."
He was holding hands with his boyfriend in the hallway.
Man, that brought me back. I remember having the exact same fight with my highschool 20+ years ago. Straight kids could be all over each other, but if a gay couple even touched each other, suddenly it's "inappropriate" or "distracting."
Did you ever get in trouble at school for Public Displays of Affection?
@Mrfunkedude the comments are fun, for a change.
Strongly agree! I had to learn empathy and practice it.
"Harris distanced herself from progressive positions (including some she herself had previously supported), emphasized kitchen-table issues, and courted Liz Cheney. She lost anyway."
Or maybe it's why she lost.
@LikeItOrLumpIt oh, that os gorgeous.
@alxndr reminded of Shelly Berman's rant about Mort Sahl: "I write my own material -- Sahl's is written by William Randolph Heart Jr."

King: of all the authors i thought would be accused of sex crimes, i never suspected neil gaiman
Poe: who did you suspect?
King: well if i'm being honest
King: i think i would have suspected
Poe: piers Anthony
King: yeah, piers Anthony
Piers Anthony: [huffing a pair of panties] wut?
@Cassandra I'm trying to move my digital life away from evil corps as much as possible. Boycotting Amazon and Target and shopping locally when I can. Donating to Minnesota mutual aid orgs. Calling my reps.
#AmReading Snuff by Terry Pratchett, last in a buddy read of all the Vimes books, and though there are some laugh out loud parts I'm sadly finding it "off" in the same way I found Raising Steam off. This may just be how it's going to be with the final books in his series.
Fuck Alzheimers!
Okay, things are very bad.
I would like to hear what other people are doing to help. Little day to day things that more people could do, to build community, to resist overt or creeping authoritarianism, to show joy to a world that desperately needs it.
@index ditto. 😡
White people did not start protesting because ICE murdered Good and Pretti.
ICE murdered Good and Pretti •because• white people were protesting — and fighting back.

@fesshole I know you have.
'Darius the Great is Not Okay author Adib Khorram blamed book bans for a recent 70 percent drop in his royalty checks, and said he and other queer authors have turned to writing adult fiction because of the fraught climate around LGBTQ+ children’s and YA books. While Khorram said he intends to keep writing queer books for young readers, the current political climate “has certainly led to more anxiety about how I will pay my bills.'
I had noticed that a number of my favorite YA authors, including Khorram, had moved to adult books but I didn't make the connection.
You have to wonder for how long this move will even help them. :kirby_angery:
Is there a Queer version of this anywhere? Like a deep dive into the Queer HP fandom? Like an intimate documentary in book form but about the Queer fandom? https://share.libbyapp.com/title/220391 @bookstodon
Protect independent journalists at all costs.
@herhandsmyhands probably someplace.
@herhandsmyhands darn it, I have such a cute item I could have donated if I'd heard about it in time. :-(
