@EdCates these are same people that put the bottom of their phone horizontal to their ear and talk (on speaker phone)
At what point did society collectively forget how to use a phone properly?
This is one of the things that really annoys me

If you see an invitation to participate in a trans or genderqueer study sponsored by Northwestern University, steer clear. It's a rigged, unethical scheme to undermine access to care. Spread the word.

I see no other reason to watch a propaganda piece about a gold-digger at best, Trumps Russian handler at worst, and friend of Epstein

@zorrobandito my experience is almost full theatres but I do have hope because there are good, intelligent films being recognised amongst the big budget, low attention span, slop but it does feel like studios are getting lazy with bland sequels & low complexity films
What scares me is Netflix buying/influencing studios to expand their model
I often see a few lit up screens in showings. Usually WhatsApp or TikTok
These people likely paid silly money to see a film only to ignore most of it
Made by Committee becomes Designed by Algorithm?
I'll admit that I was only peripherally aware of this, though I watch a lot of movies, perhaps because I often go to the cinema.
Some damning analysis of streamer 'content' using the Damon/Affleck project 'The Rip' as Exhibit A.
Do you watch a movie while simultaneously scrolling on your phone? If so, why?
"The Rip" is a new low for Netflix's mindless filmmaking - Salon.com https://share.google/UF9x0Tw98WVMmVStl
@zorrobandito it's a bad shift toward pandering to the terminally online who cannot be away from their phones for more than a few mins (or seconds)
I mostly enjoyed the film but picked up on the repetition & limp second act to its detriment
If someone can't put their phone down to watch a film, that's their problem & studios shouldn't pander to them
I watch a lot of theatrical releases & I've noticed even in the cinema there are people tapping away on phones
I fear for the future of cinema
The Rip 2026 Review
Overall – 3/5 – Not a bad film but it makes me fear for cinema
