The Last Rifleman

Not the first film that I've seen recently with this story, similar in many ways to The Great Escaper, this take on the tale is certainly the lesser of the two. Not to say it's bad, just doesn't have the charm of the Michael Caine led film. It takes a more sadder approach to the topic. Bit over-the-place in regard to pacing, & Pierce Brosnan was an 'interesting' choice to play this character, but still may be worth a watch.

This is a film with an wonderful & intriguing premise, but has been poorly executed. I wanted to love it, I still like it, but it is missing that "flair". Hampered by 2D characters, & rather aimless direction, this film never gets going beyond the idea of it. Music has the ability to impact our live a great deal, sadly that alone doesn't make for a great film.

This is a directorial debut, I don't think I've ever seen the likes of before. It is an assured picture throughout, an enthralling story of revenge. It hits the mark in all categories. I am expecting a bright future for Patel behind the camera..

I was worried about seeing this, but I was pleasantly surprised. Obviously, as sequels go on, the magic can get lost in the process. While on some counts that is true with this movie, it is for the most part a really good film, & a lot of fun. I have always loved Dreamworks style of animation, & they keep getting better with it. Plus, you can never go wrong with Jack Black as a panda.

I first saw this movie years ago, so a re-watch was in order. It's the type of film that doesn't have any element that stands out, it's just really good across the board. Engaging performances from a stellar cast, & a steady, emotionally raw story that most will find an element to identify with. Plus, it's always lovely to have a nice soundtrack.
